    County Court Money Claims Centre

5A.1 If the claim is started in the County Court Money Claims Centre, an application made after a claim has been started must be made to the County Court Money Claims Centre or County Court hearing centre where the claim is being dealt with.

If they're going to process a set aside, not only can they liase with Northampton, the PD states that they must do so.

I'd find an email for Jake Burgess  (A.CILEx,  Associate Legal Executive) and ask him:

    Dear Jake,

Re PCN xxxxxxxx Claim number xxxxxxxxx (your name)

Why are you sending me a template (badly mail-merged) letter addressed to 'Dear Sir/Madam', saying you can 'remove' a CCJ for £100, given that even a set aside with consent application would cost £100 in court fees alone?

    Kindly clarify:

    (a)  what do you mean by ''we've been liaising with the County Court and the Credit Reference Agencies''. Which County Court would that be then?  Which CRAs?  Please show me how VCS has been 'liaising' and what you have achieved to this end, so that I can make an informed decision.

    (b)  what do you mean by ''we will instruct the County Court to REMOVE the judgment from your credit register''?  Are you deliberately misleading consumers, or has VCS/Excel (or whichever company is processing my data this time) suddenly turned over a new leaf and become so philanthropic that you are - as your letter claims - offering to set aside CCJs for free?

    (c) by your letter I take it that you consent to a set aside, so I'll crack on then and pay the £100 direct to the court, not you.  I don't need your help with my N244 application, just your consent and that is certainly implied by your words.

Or is it that you don't understand the difference between removing a CCJ (set aside) and marking it 'satisfied' (not removing it)?  If you have been misleading consumers, even by your own negligence or ignorance of how CCJs work, I invite you to explain your template letter to the IPC and Trading Standards, Action Fraud and the Information Commissioner.  Or shall I report VCS?

I look forward to your reply within 14 days, confirming that you really were offering to consent to a set aside for no money (the court's fee being the £100 you were demanding).  Failing this, I will report VCS to various authorities including but not limited to the above.

    yours sincerely,

A more cynical person than myself might think it is a scam.

It's back, at least on this thread!  weirdly, I was reading a couple of threads just before this one and no "Thanks" button, start to read this one about the "Thanks" button and it appears as if by magic!
