I would think a quarter of that and perhaps less.

Schools and businesses can't remain closed until an effective vaccination (or treatment) is in widespread use, or herd immunity achieved, as that day is still far off. The government plan was never to try and stop people from getting this virus, just to try and spread cases out so that NHS and other services weren't overwhelmed.0

PPE is not going to be given to teachers or assistants. I was told this by a SEN teacher and my daughters special school.
News today says that Boris' workplace inspections don't exist either. Based on the risk I would refuse to go in, the government has said that workers who do so on safety grounds will be protected. It's clearly not safe at the moment.0 -

the problem is at what point will you think it will be safe ?
as said already - this isnt going to go away and we cant remain locked down untill it does.
sadly people have died, but its 0.06% of the population - the remaining 99.94% cannot be expected to suffer
we are backed into a corner, Boris said lockdown untill the NHS can cope - it can and has - Nightingale NEVER even got used, so lockdown should end.
part of the problem is politicians being politicians and not willing to grow a pair - make a decision and stick to it and part of that is the media and the public, criticising at every opportunity
we must not go down the route of preserving life at ANY cost, its not realistic and not sustainable
optimistically, this will cost the country ~£300 billion - that nearly £10 million per life lost6 -
The UK (England especially) has handled this outbreak much worse than almost every other country (barring the other countries run by plain old sociopaths - US, Brasil, Russia ect)
Sounds pretty normal that some people might be a bit concerned, and might not trust this 'Boris' led inept bunch in charge? The OP is just asking valid questions. It's not the OP's fault that things were handled so badly is it?
No ones claiming to want 100% virus free environments, just some sort of organised system to make it SAFER then is currently is while working!
All this "grow a pair" "be braver" "what about Denmark?" etc etc is just b*ll*cks. It's all about deflecting blame; currently it's the teachers/school workers getting it. Next time it'll be another group, and so on.
If this "Boris" had more of a grip on this from the start then the economy wouldn't be as badly hit as it has been would it?

I work in a nursery and I'm going back next Tuesday.... If I'm expected to be mixing with kids, other adults who aren't my family etc then I'm going to be seeing my family. With social distancing of course.0
