Denmark seem to be managing it quite well, despite similar concerns from parents there at the beginning.
They seem to be, but their infection rate has gone up since schools re opened.
Obviously when you start moving people round again the rate is going to go up. But at what point does having the schools shut case more harm then good. Which is what most other countries have decided.

How are other countries managing children returning to school?
Probably they never kicked up as much as a fuss as they weren't all on full pay still.

It's been bad enough as it is, and we'd have many more dead if we just listened to the gaslighting Teflon coated blinkered lot - with their me me me, it's all about me 'opinions.'
You've got a genuine concern, along with many others. Social distancing groups of kids is going to be  tougher.
You need to contact your union, and also discuss with your family, like we'll do.
I'm not sure I want my kid going back to mix just yet.
I am not in a union. I am a midday.
I can't speak to my friends who are middays  as they are staying home for one reason or another.
Ah, Ok. Hopefully they'll see sense and delay it until the infection/death rate has gone down enough.
It's a tough one for you and I do feel for you. And, no your not a snowflake, your concern is the same as many.
    Hope you get something sorted.

Someone has already pointed out that this situation is not going away in the near future. Schools and businesses can't remain closed until an effective vaccination (or treatment) is in widespread use, or herd immunity achieved, as that day is still far off. The government plan was never to try and stop people from getting this virus, just to try and spread cases out so that NHS and other services weren't overwhelmed.
    It's not difficult!

How much are you getting from the job after taxes etc? £50 a day during term time? Probably less.
Is it worth it for this much stress?

You have a right to ask for protective equipment from your employer. Presumably they will offer some too keep the kids safe as well as you.
A right to ask but not demand. Otherwise a person could demand a radiation suit for their job in a garden centre.

They said herd immunity before eventually implementing lock down. They took no heed of advice from other countries. There's still significant deaths and I can see why the op is concerned. It doesn't help the amount of people that pay absolutely no heed to guidance and will walk passed you when waiting in  queue when you've got no where to go and they don't follow the correct procedure.

Don't lunchtime assistants work approx one and a quarter hours per day?  £40 per hour?
I would think a quarter of that and perhaps less.

Unfortunately those in ICU aren't recent infections. A month on a ventilator isn't that uncommon. The current rate of infection is the better indicator.
