Not sure if are LA is going to be using the new method, I will have to find out.
Yes we would go for a 3 bed house, as you said its a cheaper option plus it will be a little bit easier to find. The reason for us leaving has something to do with the owners needing cash fast as they are moving abroad.

Is it true that if you rent from a landlord and not the council it's harder to get a council house once you have to leave?

    No :D......

    Exactamundo! :D

Ant (sorry to use you as an example ant!) is pregnant with her second child and her family already live in a one bedroom flat, BUT her and her OH both work.

I'd rather see properties given to working families like ants, than people who shell out kids just for what they can gain from it.

If they are as old as that maybe the 2 17yr olds can rent a flat, leaving Fred, the misses and the other 2 children to get a 3 bedroomed house.

My daughters are not ready to move out yet, so I think we do need a 4 bed or a large 3 bed where we could use a room as a bedroom/living room.

Good Grief! What about 2 Hard working parents that have 5/6 children, out the blue their world falls apart and they need a council property and HB.

Thats pretty much sums up are family. If we dont private rent then we will be expected to live in a B & B or caravan.

Just go for the 4 bedroomed house you seen, it's not much more than the rent for the place you are in now.

I am not sure, we only rented this house private becuase the council couldnt find evn a 3 bed house and we would have ended up in a caravan or B&B.
The housing advisor promised us the 1st 4 bed house that became available,
3 have been made available since then but they havent offered us any.
We applied but seem now to be dropping down the list despite what they assured us.

I would assume that as you already had a house then your needs were met, so the next family who met the criteria got the next available house.

By staying in b&b or a caravan i would guess your chances might be higher with the council rather than renting privately.

In 1982 I had a 13 year old friend who still shared a bedroom with her parents due to lack of space. They divided the room up using wardrobes. Her bed was behind the wardrobes.

At weekends she was allowed to sleep outside in the front garden in their small towing caravan.
