I think you are just determined to be miserable. Your two 17 year olds, if they are physically able and not in further education should be out looking for work and a place of their own. If I was your child I would be desperate to leave!

The council are obviously waiting until your twins are 18 and they no longer have a responsibility to them. Quite right too. You are old enough to know that people are not as good as their word, and unless you have things in writing you cannot guarantee them.

But actually you are one of those awful people who want everything spoonfed to them, you don't want to get off your backside and do anything for yourself, you have an excuse for everything and unless you get your own way served on a silver platter, you make everyone around you as miserable as you are. You are the living embodiment of they saying misery loves company. And as such, I will never reply to anything you ever say from now on. No piece of advice will you ever get from me, and I now leave you to rot in your own misery.

My Aunt had 4 boys in 1 large bedroom, 2 sets of bunk beds.

You cut your cloth according to your measure.

TBH, I don't even think councils should built 4 or more bedroom houses. I think its reasonable to limit your family to what you can house & if you are in council housing I think its unreasonable to expect the council to provide for a large brood. I do of course understand there will always be exceptions to the rule, like another room needed to house an elderly parent or other such circumstances.

Can I ask what you did with the money from your house sale?
I thought the council would not house people who made themselves homeless?

In answer to your question about money from selling our house, we sold it at a loss (£1500) to get away from an absolute horrid area, where we had been burgled twice, houses were getting set on fire.
We have at no stage made ourselves homeless, we moved into a private rented house when we first moved down to dorset.

But that is not reality and very easy to just say.

Whats not reality? I would love to be able to post a copy of the letter I wrote to my local mp that includes me saying that the amount of HB I get is shocking and it would be more affordable for us to have been put in a council house.

  • Post 4 gave you the answer you need, phone/write to your local council.

Users of MSE have absolutely no idea of figures for your area and as you are on dial-up I would suggest you use your time on the internet actually looking at the websites for your local area.

Probably not a good idea to go into your local offices shouting about how they have "shafted" you if you do actually want them to help. Nor is it your right to go demanding what size of house you specifically want if there is no housing stock available with 4 bedrooms.

So you bought a house, paid the mortgage for x amount of years & sold it & the sale from the house paid the remaining mortgage less £1,500?

You can't have had the mortgage long then?
