What small DFW things will you do w/c 11th May?

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.
But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.
Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.
So be proud of those small steps, they really are important 😀

Morning all. Today I am trying to be positive and worry about only what I can control, which involves avoiding the news :-)
- -check banks - payments should all have gone out reducing debt balances nicely
- -update money sheet
- -try to write story for a thing I am also supposedly editor of
- -NOT comfort eat - I have a golden opportunity to lose weight on lockdown because not exhausted by commuting etc and instead I have put on a ton of weight for reasons we can all understand. But no more. I am tracking what I eat and usually just doing that is enough to stop me going over what I want to have every day. Wish me luck.
- -walk dog and make sure I get my steps in
- -water outside plants - didn't yesterday because it looked like rain but then didn't
- -show DD what leg waxing involves. I kid you not, she's desperate to know. Hopefully this will put her off the idea for many years.
- -work and actually concentrate while there (starting right after this...)
Hope you're all doing OK!

Eesh you lot. Fancy telling me I could make a bread and butter pudding with anything I could fine and didn't need cream. I made a marmalade, coconut and raisin bread and butter pud yesterday afternoon. And it is amazing. And I am the only person in my house that will eat bread and butter pudding. And I hate food waste. Oh dear.
I slept in this morning - that's not usually good for my mood or my head. Mood is ok so far but my head needs clearing - which judging by the weather will be well cleared on my walk this afternoon. I've done 3 hours of school work, a tiny bit of housework and cat maintenance and am just about to head into a 2+ hour meeting. Think I can tick the work-from-home box today. Kids are only just starting to show their faces, but they can work once I'm done.
Other than that, I am staying home and letting other people take the risks - I will continue to be guided by what I read for myself as a scientist and what my union tells me about work.
Stay safe people...

Lol we are a bad influence on here aren't we CCL
Actually I remember a teacher saying that back in the mists of time
Didn't get round to posting yesterday for some reason. I emptied out one of the composters and spread it round various areas of the garden, and I was a bit wiped out after that. Woke up to a frost this morning - hate it when winter just won't go! Anyway, the dog and I went for a chilly walk earlier, and I am hoping that the fleece protected my bean plants sufficiently! Not sure what will get done today - I have some stuff in the garden to put back in its place, as I had to move things round to get to the compost dalek with the wheelbarrow etc. I will need to do some watering as it is very dry, despite being so cold. There was a really horrible cold wind yesterday that dried everything out - though at least it dried the washing as well! Also need to check the banks and inspect the fridge to see if anything urgently needs dealing with. I did make a goulash thing yesterday to use up some ageing peppers, and that will do for a couple of dinners, though OH wants steak tonight, having found a couple of little ones in the freezer (from one of our butcher's bargainous mixed packs). And the bathroom floor could do with a clean - black and white chequered ceramic tiles look very nice for about 5 minutes after they are washed. They show every speck of dust and are marked by every drop of water9 -
Morning I am a bit of an infrequent flyer at the mo as am spending a lot of the day online with students.
Managed a short run last night 'running in treacle ' kind of a run, am a bit damaged after jumping over a ditch on friday and pulling a hip flexer muscle or thereabouts. I managed to cook from the fridge freezer all weekend, and only got milk and bread yesterday - so today I am off to do a big old weekly shop, but will try to make a list before I go.
Yesterday I made my first true sourdough bread rolls - proving for 24 hours in a cool place - shelf in living room hmmm hmm tasted amazing, with that squishy feel. Very nice.
Hmm I'm only realising now that I made pasta and veggie burgers last night - but I completely forgot to make the burgers - I made ravioli - so that was quite filling. On sunday it was a bit of mix and match so I made a spinach risotto and a butter nut squash curry from the freezer - believe it or not it did sort of work. Quite tasty anyways.
In terms of shopping at home I found an old pair of shorts I have started using for running, so that's one thing off the list. I need to get the young one jeans and shorts as he's growing, maybe a bit height wise - he's a late grower inching on 6'3'' or 4'' and he's growing width wise, he's just waiting for the moment when he can go back to his sport!
Today is my day off, well I am officially furloughed now, so just pulling together creative ressources and catching up at home. So will
- online staff meeting
- shop
- vacuum upstairs(and a wizz through downstairs), and bathroom
- wash bedding
- do something creative
- bike ride might try and upp it to 15 ish miles
-frame pictures
- empty small filing cabinet - that should keep me happy and busy for a few days.
After tomorrow I will have an empty green bin - first time since November, so I've got some bushes that needs a tidy! Celebration time snip snip.Isa help to buy: 1000/3000 33%

Dawn feel your pain re tiles. The numpties who lived here before us put white textured tiles on the kitchen floor. Thankfully it’s no longer our kitchen but I can’t wait for them to be taken up as they show every speck of dust! We’re getting closer....
my list for today:
couple if loads of washing pegged out as didn’t do it all yesterday due to it going very dark and gloomy (but managed to get a couple of loads dried)
check banking
reconcile just for points CC
make something with a BNS
walk later
some knitting/crochet
school work with smalls
sort out another space so we can remove some more cupboards
Water seedlings and outside pots
have a good day all. Purps8 -
Morning all,
Thanks for starting the new thread Purps. I had a day off yesterday so kept away from the screen all day, because all work meetings are on screen as well I don't feel like I'm getting a sufficient break from it during the day. I went to B&M yesterday as we needed some organisers, managed to stick up on tinned food whilst I was there so no need to go to another shop this week, did spend quite a bit of money but all within budget and will be going on the SS shortly.
Today's list:
- update SS
- soak two white jumpers I got pizza sauce on
- white wash once they're soaked
- wfh
- all food from stores
- water veg and flowers
- DH will do more of the decking, it's looking good now!
- an exercise class
