My passport had my old name as it was obtained using the birth certificate.

OK, let's try and get to the bottom of this issue so we can hopefully help you resolve it.
    1. What happened to your old passport?
    2. What happened to your birth certificate?
    3. If you lost your birth certificate, what happened when you tried to order a copy?
    4. What was the legal event by which you obtained a new name, and what happened to the documents confirming your name change?
    1. As i mentioned previously "my ID was lost or expired".
    2. As i mentioned previously "my ID was lost or expired".
    3. I have never tried to order a copy as its not my name and i can't see it being much use, the same goes with my passport.
    4. i was very young so don't remember much, from the age of about 8 i used my current name throughout education and employment without any issues, i was recognised by the system and had a bank account in this name.
  • Looks like you need to start at the beginning and work your way through all the steps - get your birth certificate and work through getting the name change to catch up with what you use.  It will be a nuisance and drawn out, but perfectly possible, step by step.
Yeah that's probably my only route, it's morals stopping me from obtaining the birth certificate for reasons i won't go into.

You do not need a birth certificate to prove either your ID and address.

For the third time, and I say this patiently, with which bank are you having difficulty?  If you tell us that, then we can then tell you what alternative documents you would require...  :)

Your friends who are looking after you and appear to be paying for your needs  food etc can’t they assist you in getting ID etc

You aren't the only banging their heads against a brick wall.

It's been recommended more than once in this thread that you should get your birth certificate and then piece things together from there.

Every bank has a list of documents that they will accept as proof of identification (and it doesn't have to be a birth certificate).  They also have a second list of documents from which they'll accept as proof of your current address.

Decide which bank you want and then look at their two lists.   Simples.   Job done!!  ;)

OP says they aren't after a bank account. It's not clear why they posted on this board.

Still think something doesn’t add up. No one unless they are really close allows anyone to stay for free.

I've explained my situation very clearly yet you guy's can't get your head around it for some reason.
My biological father left me when i was a month old and that's the reason i don't want anything to do with that name or my birth certificate, thanks for making me bring up personal crap.
Can a mod delete this thread as i don't see an option to do so on my end?
