My son is a self employed joiner working on building sites .He filled in the onlne form  and has been told he is ineligible for self employed income support scheme  .He has fulfilled all criteria .Would there be any reason why he won’t receive it .

Well I think you need to tell us which criteria you think he's fulfilled and why because we can answer your question."All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of thing shall be well." 1 1

He is paid CIS . Deductions taken for tax although he is classed as self employed .He earns less than 50000 and has submitted all of his tax returns .

Does he have a Government Gateway account? I believe this is needed to complete the claim.
What date was the 2018/19 tax return submitted? I think it had to be submitted by the 23rd April 2020.
Did he have any other income in those years which was not CIS ?

If he submitted his tax return in October then it's possible he sent in a paper return.
If he submitted them online he will have a Government Gateway account, unless maybe he used an Accountant to submit them for him."All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of thing shall be well." 0 0

He uses an accountant to submit them . He has been told by HMRC they will look at it and get back to him by the end of May .It is worrying because there will be thousands like him CIS workers .Thanks again0

What online form did he use?0

I don’t know. Only that he uses an accountant . Should he be registering .Surely HMRC use his NI number or Taxpayer reference number !0

There is something odd here. Based on what you say, unless he has a lot of other income, he will qualify. HMRC should ask him to apply. Letters are going out from this week. See https://www.gov.uk/government/news/self-employed-invited-to-get-ready-to-make-their-claims-for-coronavirus-covid-19-support
The claim cannot be done by his accountant. He will need to log in to his government gateway account. I have heard that people with a government gateway account can access a tool for eligibility. A poster on another board said:
"Yeap already got it all. Basically from today (4th May) there's a new tool which allows you to see if your eligible where you enter your UTR number AND national insurance number.. after i entered these it told me i was eligible but it doesnt say how much for yet, i then had to enter my government gateway id to login and verify my identity with driving license, it then asked me to enter my email.. it said we will email you on 15th May to claim online from 8am :-) Happy days! "
It sounds as if he has entered something wrong on this tool somewhere.

This is the tool he used it asked for his NI number and UTR which he entered and was told he was ineligible .No further.questions asked. His friend that works alongside him was the same .Both ineligible .I think they will have to actually speak to someone at HMRC and get the answer .Thank you0
