Morning all
It's been chucking it down here since 4am so I confidently predict I won't see too many other people when I'm out walking today. I've been quiet all week because life is very samey at the moment, plus busy juggling mine and the kids school stuff, plus the weather has been nice enough to spend quite a bit of the spare time in the garden.
I'm in awe of how much baking and prepping you lot are still doing. I was thinking of making a bread and butter pudding with half a loaf of leftover white now ds has gone off his toast obsession again, but I have no cream and not sure if I can just substitute it with milk... I have flour, which I've had since before lockdown which remains resolutely unopened (just a 1kg bag which I already had in) but I will need to do something with it soon or it'll start tempting weevils or something. Plans for today are the same as every other... house stuff, school stuff (me - not the kids - I don't make them work weekends), walk, moan about being tired, repeat.
Not giving up
Working hard to pay off my debt
Time to take back control

You can definitely use milk in a bread and butter pudding. I never use cream in mine. Just a mixture of milk, eggs, sugar and a bit of nutmeg.4

I made a bread and butter pudding with a few leftover slightly stale scones the other day, sliced fairly thinly and spread with butter just as you would with bread. I think it is one of those things you can pretty much adapt to what you have around
There is a recipe similar to the one I use on this blog http://somethingelsetoeat.blogspot.com/2010/03/bread-and-butter.htmlI adapt according to what I have in the way of dried fruit, and usually just chuck in 2 eggs if I can't be bothered with separating out a yolk.

I sometimes use marmalade on the bread instead of butter, for a change. Also, last week I used up the ends of a fruit loaf instead of plain bread and it was lovely. KA4

I use all sorts in bread and butter pudding. Although I don’t make it often these days as hubby is not a fan. One nice variety is making jam sandwiches and then using frozen raspberries in the eggy mixture. Or use brioche buns in it. I really want want now 😂4
