What small DFW things will you do w/c 4th May?

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.
But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.
Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.
So be proud of those small steps, they really are important 😀

todays plan is strip and make monkey boys bed
check bank accounts - done
marinate the spare ribs for tea
tidy and clean the garage/man cave as I want to go back on the treadmill and start working out again. Can’t use the weights for another few weeks but I can walk.
we are all still in bed here, I let monkey boy have a late night (9pm) so it’s nice to be able to let him sleep in. Best get up and sorted though.6 -
Morning
thanks for starting the thread purps
Sorry I've been missing in action for so long, what with everything I haven't been doing much small things and doing far too much facebooking!
Today is a new day and a new week
Trying to keep my expectations low but today I hope to
* finish a pair of teeny leggings for dgd2. Man I am missing her so much! Madam is in the garden playing, I have tidied up so am giving myself permission to do them when I have posted this
* pay remainder of cc balance - food shopping has gone through the roof but all other spends reduced drastically!
* stick to sw. I have put on 9lbs during lockdown!a mixture of drinking, comfort eating and not able to be getting out and about as much as I usually do. I managed to stick to SW yesterday. If I can get through today and tomorrow I'll be back in the swing
* home schooling with madam
* take pup for a walk
* pot on some tomatoes
* organised mum method - lounge. Top tip I heard about trying to keep house tidy during lockdown with kids is vacuum just before they go to bed
* read book/put together and cut out pattern tonight.
* I might have a pamper evening if I fancy it later. I've been tired recently so going to bed with a book when I've tidied up after madam goes to sleep
Right that is my lot. Hope you all have a good day xDF as at 30/12/16

@determined_new_ms Lovely to "see" you! You have been missed.
@shoppingobsessed2020 spare ribs - yum!
I'm not putting a full list up yet as I need to hand over the computer to ds2 for home schooling in a min (he's just gone to brush his teeth!)Check banking/close off Aprils spreadsheet/set up May's and update (really behind already this month!)
cheap but healthy porridge for breakfasts
wash a load and hang on the line to dry
make a big batch of mash as the potatoes I have are rubbish! Will have this with some leftover chicken for a dinner tonight
All meals from stores
Update icyland delivery due tomorrow
That's it for now, have a good week all.
Sticking with the "Small things" thread to keep up us on the straight and narrow.

Morning allLovely to 'see' you back @Determined_new_ms
I am sure I have put on loads of weight too, but am not in the right frame of mind to cut down drastically atm
Starting to think about it a bit more though.
@1LuckyLady I think all the old season potatoes are a bit rubbish now, looking forward to the new ones!Up early, before 5 this morning, walked dog and was back by about 5.30. Managed to get the dog to do the longer of the routes I usually follow. He is a lazy little so and so! Fed dog and birds, put the recycling out, had breakfast, read the news online, checked banks, cleaned up kitchen etc etc. Also ordered a new electric tower fan online as ours is ancient, doesn't always turn on, and shudders and makes wheezing noises when it does. If I leave it till it actually dies, it will most likely be the hottest time of the year and everywhere will be sold out. Went through Quidco and got a small amount of cashback, which has tracked already. Every little helps!Not feeling uber motivated again, but will:!!!!!! out basil seedlings (that norty horticultural word again) Done
Load of washing, which I will peg outside if it doesn't rain. Not looking great though! Not done in time to peg out, but just done now, with a view to putting it out to dry tomorrow.Consider whether to put French bean plants out, as they are getting pretty big! Supposed to be cold at the weekend though. Wonder if they would be ok with fleece round them? Not done yetWater rest of seedlings in greenhouse. Nothing outside needs watering as we have had lots of rain over the last few days. DoneOught to take the handheld vacuum thing and give the inside of the car a good cleanDone, took ages, as it is a big car, and was very dirty. Hadn't been done for ages, and was full of debris from my carting stuff about for my business, and OH's messy country pursuits. All nice and clean now - pity about the outside though!
Lunch will be pate, toast and salad bits, pickles etc DoneDinner will be leftover cold lamb, jacket potatoes and salad DonePretty worn out now, but quite pleased that I got stuff done. Off for a bath and then to bed shortly!

Hello
It's Monday and I've remembered the weekly thread! It normally happens on a Friday or Saturday. Not that I have much to say. Another week of lockdown begins and more of the same. Schoolwork for me and the kids, exam related work, daily walk, daily housework which is washing, rubbish and hoovering. I'm just getting over a cold now (definitely not Covid-19 I had the test) so I've had a few days of feeling like utter poo whilst not being able to get out and about for fresh air or anything.
Hope everyone is well. I'll be lurking about and catching up.

Hello all and happy new week!
Thanks for starting the new thread @purplefairy26
I did make the mini golf course around our house on Friday for DH as he's had a rubbish few weeks work wise. Was great fun, I definitely recommend it.
Have had a morning full of meetings today - still find it strange that my colleagues are seeing inside my house. I'm trying to stick to the same blank wall for them to see. There's only three I've ever invited into my house and I don't want any others here.
Checked the banks and unfortunately virgin media have taken a large payment is error so I need to get onto them. Hoping they'll refund and not credit as the money is most definitely needed this month - why can't they just do what they say?!
Today's list:
- all food from stores (oatibix for breakfast, Friday nights chilli and salad for lunch, greek "chicken" and home made pittas to make into kebabs for tea.
- water greenhouse, like you @DawnW we've had lots of rain so outside not needed. I found an old black bin in the garage which has lost it's lid so put it out to collect rain to water greenhouse - working well.
- have put a wash on and another one is needed, going to put it on the line at lunch and hope it doesn't rain. We've put the heating back on for a couple hours in the evenings so will finish off on radiators if needed.
- contact virgin media
Not setting any other expectations for today - letting it take me where it wants to go.
Hope you all have a happy and safe day

Afternoon all. Panic has receded as I worked out over the weekend that the pain is 'only' strained core muscles and back. Good news! 🙄
Today:- -lunch from leftovers for me and DD (leftover from the lush take away curry we had on Friday after an exceptionally tough week all round but still, leftovers... curry never wasted in this household!)
- -taking quite a bit of time out to motivate DD with school stuff today after she got upset over not doing as much as she thinks she should
- -work has plenty on for once so can just crack on in between times
- -check banks but nothing really happens til Monday when all the bills go out
- -review the £170 quid I spent on shopping at the weekend so that NONE of it is wasted. Just a huge spend, three times my usual, mainly because the prices in our small supermarket are GIANT at the moment. Fruit, veg and meat was from small local shops - 50 quid. Pretty outrageous but fresh, from local suppliers etc. Then over 100 quid in Sainmsbury's Local on the rest of it - toiletries etc, some meds, then just general non-fresh stuff. Couple of treats - a magazine, bunch of chocolates etc. But still. The price of every single thing I picked up was higher than usual. Part of me can't wait to shop in big stores again...
- No more shopping at all til next week and then it must be absolutely minimal.

I'm looking forward to shopping in Aldi and Lidl again @TryingAgain2022. I find the mainstream supermarkets are so dear but whilst we are staying home I don't have a lot of choice. Very grateful for local delivery firms who are supplying bread, veg, eggs etc. Sadly still needed some things from the supermarkets - how dear the big 4 are! Makes me so thankful we have savings etc so we are sad about big supermarket & delivery bills but not unable to afford them.
Had a stroke of luck this week on facebook and saw an advert for Shop and Scan - can't wait to receive my clicker! So pleased to be on their panel. I think it is worth liking all the adverts of local delivery companies etc. as I have been so pleased to see them that I was interacting with a lot of adds and clicking through to see what they offered, delivery areas etc - maybe it has shown facebook I buy food!Debt at highest: £8k. Morning - another day same old same! Have woken up (again) fed up with this not being able to do anything other than tidy, cook, clean, try to do school work with madam. I shouldn't complain I know but weirdly it's exhausting! Katsu I'm still shopping at Lidl and it's still shockingly expensive! Maybe double what we normally spent
Anyway enough of the Eeyore routine! Thanks for welcoming me back
Today madam is having a virtual playdate with a friend so I a trying to use the time for the never ending story (tidying & cleaning) Although think I may be reaching my boredom limit with that!
* load of washing about to be hung out. Yesterday's washing had to go back out for an hour as it was a bit damp
* had stewed pears in overnight oats - so yummy!
* use up lunch - madam having chicken and mozzarella toastie to use up mozzarellaI'll have omelette and salad
* take dog for walk
* do some lessons at some point
* some sewing - want to cut out pattern and fabric for cardi I'm making madam and dgd2
* feeling tired so might see if madam wants to watch a film and I can doze on the sofa...
* finish organised mum - just need to polish and vacuum bedrooms
* emailed 2 patterns to oh to print at work
* ys roast chicken for dinner with lots of use up veg
* catching up with a friend this evening
ok that's me. Might go and read in the garden while madam is happy out thereDF as at 30/12/16
