You can see from my signature how its divided up - we are very lucky that it is al at 0% at the moment.

    Any tips?? xxx

Of course you can and welcome everybody can join in whatever they want that's good to see that you've got all your stuff on 0%...so everybit goes to the debt..
  • Hi Everyone
I am definitely up for the challenge of clearing my debt by the end of the year. I've been working on it for a while and have cleared about £7k in total so far by increasing hours at work, ebaying anything I can and mystery shopping amongst other things. But now I feel I have to really knuckle down and sort this out for good, and think I can just about make it.

The only thing is I (like Taxi) really appreciate a good holiday and feel that is the one thing I do not want to forgo (although I should)! I think its to do with quality family time...I've had less time than usual with my daughters due to all this extra work and the holiday is something we are all really looking forward to!

Will be updating my sig. after salary comes in at end of Jan!!!

Hi and welcome of course you can join ..I will not give my holiday up either ..debt busting isn't about giving everything up but living within your means and paying some off without having to get more credit to live on....and is always down to each individual as to what they can sacrifice the biggest way of balancing the books is to go through every bill and see whether any services can be got for cheaper and shopping around for absolutely everything as every little bit shaved off at least can be paid off..

Hey everyone, not much to post from me either, still waiting for February to get here, it's taking too long.

I certainly won't do without my holidays either, i'm so desperate for a holiday, that i spotted a bargain and ended up booking it for the wrong dates, not realizing and i didn't want to miss out on the cheap flights! I work in a school and it turns out that the form currently up in the staff room is the one for next school year's holiday. Have now found out my bargain isn't such a bargain as i have booked it for when we are back at school! Still trying to work out what to do. Had to laugh at myself though, at least its not till May so plenty of time to sort it!

  • Good luck with sorting out your holiday Andan. Its good to have something to look forward to at this time of year - I don't mind scrimping a bit in the meantime if I know I have a couple of weeks to get away from it all in the sunshine to aim for!

Talking of scrimping, I just put all the leftovers in my fridge into a giant stirfry and it was delicious!

  • Managed to pay off another £200 off debt today as I got paid. Just waiting . for OH to get paid to make a serious dent in it! (got some commission coming through...)
Also managed to make some money off eBay. However, being a bit useless, I underestimated some of the postage...Still I did come out making some profit and you learn something new every day....

Just seen this challenge and am going to give it a go. My new years resolution was to clear my debts which at the start of the year total around £20,000. I don't think theres much chance me paying them off by the end of 2008 but if I keep a positive attitude about it Im sure Ill achieve more than I think possible. My main problem is my debt depresses me and then I go on a spending spree to cheer me up but it just makes the situation worse. So Im joining this challenge to keep my progress, keep motivated, and keep getting all your excellent tips. In January Ive already payed £169.87 off my LloydsTSB loan, £357.74 off my Alliance & Leicester loan, and £255.78 off my Mint card. This leaves me owing £5000 on my overdraft, £4887.18 on my LloydsTSB loan, £100 on my Mint card, and around £9000 on my Alliance & Leicester loan.
  • This progress doesn't seem to be happening!

OH gets paid next week though so total will go right up, hopefully.
    Debt free in 2010
    £6551.35 paid so far.

This WILL be my debt free year! :T
