Hi all not posted on here for a while so though I'd update.
I rang nationwide about the refund and the cheque will be in the post this week should be about £3000 so might change my target to £15k. Thats great news cos I need to pay the management charge for my flat and get a kitchen fitted. Also worked out I could pay off at least 2 small debts and put £500 aside for emergencies. Im moving in less than 2 weeks now so really excited. Only 3 more shifts at my second job and 8 more days at my full time job!!!! not that im counting  Managed to make a big payment off one of my credit cards. and once all the payments have gone out of my bank for a few things I will have 1 debt cleared completely which frees up an extra £60 per month.

But I did treat myself to 2 pet mice (to keep me company when I move as hubby wont be moving with me straight away) and have called them Stilton and Cheddar. They only cost me £30 for the mice and food and bedding etc and are quite cheap to look after.

Phew, at last, after much faffing and dilly-dallying, I have finally gotten around to making my first ever mortgage overpayment (£1000). It feels good (da na na na na na na, I knew that it would, da na na na na na na). But it will feel even better when small, regular overpayments become a routine way of life (maybe in 2019 at the rate I'm going!)

I'm mad! Shifted my credit card balance to my egg card that I wasn't using cos the offered me 0% interest til Aug. Just dicovered I've got card repayment protection that's added another £16 to my debt - almost as much intesest as I pay on my other card AND I had the transfer fee. So that's me increased my debt by ANOTHER £16 :(

Does anyone know if I can cancel this?

  • Have a look at the home page on here alimac. There's an article on trying to cancel and reclaim PPI which might be quite helpful for you? I'm trying to stop the PPI on my loan so I don't know exactly how it works for credit cards but I'm sure Martin will have better advice than me!

  • Hi All,

I know I'm a bit late but can I join?

I set myself the target of halving my debt as a new year resolution (see my sig) I don't think I could manage to clear all of my debt although it would be nice.

I'm gonna be trying to boost my income so that I can pay more off by Having a good old clear out and putting stuff on ebay etc, using Quidco and making corsets to sell on ebay (I've been making corsets for about 3 years) Other than that I'm just gonna use a whole lot of poitive thinging!

    Debt-free and Proud!
    Hello,

I have been a regular lurker here since Madmitch666 (a very wonderfull person) recomended this site so I thought I would post an update of how this challenge is going.

My wonderfull OH made me sell somesutff on ebay (really didnt want to part with it) I have made approx £420 -yay I really dont miss the items and the sight of the debt coming down was WOW. Have now dug out loads of stuff and most of it I have had for years and never used - talk about overly material! And these items proberly helped get me where I am!

Thanks again to my wonderous OH we went to my bank Abbey - in case your wondering. I admit that I have been careless but most of my overdraft was due to a mistake they had made. My OH got an Apology and Abbey admitted they were wrong YAY and get this £105.00 in bank charges refunded YAY again (though hoping to get the rest once the test case is over)

Thank you for taking the time to read this - love this site every one is so friendly

  • Grrr I don't seem to be doing very well on chucking extra cash at my debts so far. I was planning Ebaying everything I could find (I should have decluttered years ago anyway) but I am having problems with Ebay (very long story - can't bring myself to type it). Am considering putting a load of my CDs onAmazon, I am not massively attached to them and most of them are in my tunes (well equivalent) anyway.

Has anyone on this thread sold through Amazon, how easy is it and do things tend to go reasonably quickly??

  • Hi everyone.

Poorandindenial - I'm not really paying anything extra off at the moment either, just trying to survive the month!

I sold two books on Amazon marketplace a couple of weeks ago. It's really easy to list the items (no photos to take, no descriptions to write). I got quite excited when I got up the morning to an email saying I'd sold my first book (I do lead a very boring life  ).
