Maybe it's time for a hairnet revival...?My hair has also gone all straggly and, while I'm not bothered about what others think of it, I find I'm constantly sweeping it back off my forehead without thinking. Need to stop this "hair fidgeting" as I know we should avoid touching our faces. The hairnet beckons...I am using Lockdown as an opportunity to see if I can actually get mine to grow. Usually, every time I try, it gets to the "straggly" stage and I give up, so it's a good time to persevere. I did cut my fringe last week. It doesn't look too bad (yet) 😉. I think I'm fortunate in that I embraced my natural silver a few years ago so at least I don't have to worry about colour maintenance.1 -
Coronavirus: Changing faces after six weeks of lockdown https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-edinburgh-east-fife-52488116So many people embracing their lockdown locks without a thought of breaking the national emergency laws / requirements. As one chap says 'hair is a pretence'. Get over yourself!4

OP - have you really thought it through? You're more concerned with your hair than your health. What makes you think a) you won't get the virus because you're not in a high-risk group, or b) if you do get it, you'll recover. You might die from it! Would you rather look well-groomed in your coffin, or put up with your growing locks (and stay alive) for a bit longer? Sorry to be blunt, but I think you should reconsider any thought of breaking social distancing rules.
With respect, I think your post is very insensitive, bearing in mind there are nearly 30,000 people who have lost their lives in the U.K., and some of their families and/or friends might be reading this.
Have another think about it.
I too am doing a very good impression of a shaggy Old English Sheepdog, so I know how it feels.I can't imagine a life without cheese. (Nigel Slater)8 -
The OP is a self confirmed 'covid sceptic'.

OP all those people in the supermarket who look like they're healthy - chances are at least half of them have some kind of underlying condition, and/or go home to more vulnerable people. What about the frontline withers who have no choice but to come into contact with you when you're spreading it and then when you fall ill? What about their families?
The entire point about staying home and saving lives is not just to save our own lives, but to not endanger everyone else!8 -
Not much longer then. I don't know about the whole country - but a Welsh radio station had a news item today saying how upset Welsh hairdressers are that, when they are allowed to open for business again on 1 June, they will only be allowed to have one customer at a time in the shop for the time being.
Cue for promptly ringing up the solo hairdresser nearby I'd identified prior to Lockdown as the one I would be swopping to Afterwards and telling her this news item and making an appointment for 1 June. She hadn't known that - but was clearly about to break out the champagne by the sound of how pleased she is to be able to open again at all and says she'll alert others about this. Duly said I'm not bothered from my own pov about what she does - but can wear a mask just for that visit if she is concerned for herself.
So I guess this will apply to the rest of the country and not just Wales.0 -
The problem as I see it is it can't be "unsafe" one day and then "safe" the next. So even once it is allowed, what's changed, really? How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 2.60% of current retirement "pot" (as at end May 2025)3

The OP still seems fixated on a haircut. Obviously isn't reading the comments.I can't imagine a life without cheese. (Nigel Slater)2 -

Being that, with that viewpoint, someone might be saying "I've not got a cast-iron guarantee about this next month/6 months time/a years time/ever again". At some point it is safe - and if the Government and/or the lower-level things of Welsh Assembly etc have said "safe for one person at a time" and are likely to take months (if ever) to go "Safe to go absolutely back to normal as usual" - then I will go on "They've said it's safe for one person at a time".
That would apply even if I wasnt a Covid Sceptic - but I am a Covid Sceptic in the event.
I can't spend an anticipated remaining 20 years of my life going "I'm afeared.....#shakeinshoes #shakeinshoes". Being on Planet Earth (in the best of circumstances) means/has always meant having to take a very deep breath before walking out the door of a morning - because Earth is such a scary planet to live on at the best of times.
