Hi all, just checking in. Friend has baby and is now home which is lovely, we've offered to pick up shopping for them if they need it so they can just stay home and tag team through the newborn stage. Called HMRC to change my tax code and am getting a tiny refund, tried to get cheaper renewal on home insurance but they only took of £10 and I found one £70 cheaper so switched. Energy people took a random payment so contacted them to get a refund. Took LO to the beach yesterday, she screamed when we tried paddling, but after we put shoes back on she discovered the fun of splashing in puddles so not a complete failure. Also ordered some adult stabilisers as I have forgotten how to ride a bike and am terrified of falling off so hoping to position them just above the ground to give me confidence so I can relearn. Grateful for friend being ok and home from hospital, a semi successful beach trip, helpful people sorting out refunds and the brownie I just ate (I put walnuts in, that makes it healthy right?)7

I'm happy to say that I'm feeling a lot more positive today.
Iceland order has been delivered and after trawling through the cookery books I've made a meal plan for lots of yummy sounding things using ingredients that we have in the cupboards. Recipes I've never tried before so looking forward to some nice meals.
Mealtimes were getting a bit samey as I couldn't really get motivated but I'm rearing to go now.
Also we have a month long holiday booked in October. I don't know yet if travelling restrictions will be eased but the Boy has offered to drive us there and come back and get us rather than us having to go by public transport. That would make a huge difference. I quite like the journey by public transport but to be honest I wouldn't be comfortable doing it that way at the moment even if it is allowed.
Also got a bit of a plan for getting out for walks at the end of next week. Nowhere far or even very exciting but after seven weeks it's something to look forward to.
I really envy everyone who has a garden but my little pots are coming along. Lots of little green shoots and big bowls of parsley and rocket. I'm feeling quite encouraged.
And best of all repeats of Downton Abbey.Have adventures. laugh a lot and always be kind.8 -
All is good, all is well here. Laundry mountain vanquished - bed sheets dry in record time with this wind and sunshine. Spoke to the over 70s, nothing to report. Darned socks and did some little sewing jobs to keep things wearable. Apart from that, I just cleaned, and cleared, and laundered, and cooked, and made a huge pile of dh's closthes for him to look through and either discard, or store somewhere that is not my bedroom (tbf it is his bedroom too, but I need that space to hang up my clothes, and he has his own enormous wardrobes 4x the size of mine - so why is his tat in mine???).Kids want pesto pasta ( from a jar ) for tea, and banana fritters (why do they want this stuff when I am dieting?) with golden syrup. It's very windy here. I went out earlier and put some brassicas in their permanent homes (the last of the stuff I ordered weeks ago arrived but so did some of the things I ordered earlier this week. Found the lettuce, they had been left in the post box and I really don't think I can rescue them. The ones I grew from seed are much bigger and healthier anyway. Lots of watering, trundled back and forth with a very large bucket on the walker, then switched to using the trolley as I can fit 3 large buckets of water on that. I also used it to help pin down the polytunnel.
Came inside and have watched anxiously this afternoon as next door's trees waved wildly, the greenhouse tried to fly and I could here the polytunnel being buffeted about. Went outside once the wind had dropped (not stopped), have pulled the top half of the greenhouse back out of next door's yard and examined the polytunnel (cover has ripped and turned inside out like an umbrella. Made one attempt at getting it back over but the wind was yanking it back off so will have to wait until the wind stops. Had a large sheet of plastic in the shed (think it's the wrap off mum's mattress) and have covered the table with the most vulnerable seeds and young plants and used a bucket of soil at each end to weight it down. Righted several overturned buckets. Rebuild will start tomorrow.
Have had a shower and found a ginger cake in one of the cupboards, so will share that with mum whilst we watch Luther.
Today I am grateful for things growing, for easy meals using up the odds and ends, for having a clear out, for hot water to ease my aching muscles, for ginger cake.

It has been really windy here as well. The trampoline nearly blew away with the wee ones still inside it. Lots of screaming, giggling and loud laughter as people appeared from all around to try to tether it to the fence.
Today we had a lovely breakfast of crispy bacon, free range eggs and potato scones with bucks fizz (well, orange juice and sparkling white wine but near enough). Not really healthy but we don't have it often and it was delicious. Tonight we are having a thin based cheese and tomato pizza (from freezer) tarted up with lots of yummy things that I've found in the larder (jars of peppers, artichokes, sun dried tomatoes, etc).
It's been a very, very lazy day watching TV, chatting and hopefully making some tentative holiday plans. A long way off and in the very early stages but something to look forward to which is, I think, what a lot of us are lacking at the moment. We're missing planning and having things to look forward to.
Also donated a little to a local mental health charity that the lad next door is heavily involved with. It must be so difficult for those suffering with mental health issues to be coping with this situation as well. I know from personal experience how hard it is to see a loved one suffering. I cannot begin to say how grateful for the situation I am in at the moment. A roof over my head, no money worries, enough food and good family, friends and neighbours.
Sorry, I think I was getting a little bit negative there.
Anyway, Himself has just gone for a little nap and i am about to watch a Poroit.

So fingers crossed number two wetsuit I have bought will fit! I am supposed to go swimming tomorrow, but only time will tell if it is possible. SO far this week I am thankful for getting my kayak out, for a long walk with a friend, for oldest son going to work, youngest completing a set of graphics work and taking the time to present it nicely, thankful for having lost 2 kg, for dog finally getting a trim tomorrow, and for not having to be on a screen this weekend, so that is why I will keep this short. Will catch up and read sometime before the end of the month.
