Your bank want evidence of whether you are entitled to a tax rebate or not? I'm lost.
I came into this world with nothing and I've got most of it left.

Yes Its puzzled me to because they seem to be moving the goalposts now as when problems first arisen they just wanted proof from that HMRC have paid it to me I have provided that now they want proof of expenses.
HMRC seem to be  concerned with the way the bank is acting they couldn't have been more helpful to be honest and by what HMRC are saying to me i am not the only one who this is happening to!

Do as  Colsten suggests email the CEO immediately. I have had to contact a CEO of another company in the past and it is amazing how suddenly everything is resolved. And don’t forget to mention the fact you were referred to a food bank

  • So bank thinks that it's their role to investigate your taxes now. Ridiculous! If HMRC think they owe you and paid it, that's it. And how can you prove expenses for business mileage anyway? You just record it and claim it.
  • If this is solely about a tax refund then Santander are definitely being too overzealous.

This is the point I tried to make to the bank be cause as it stands now they would rather me go in with a record of my mileage (which is all handwritten in my diary btw) which could so easily be forged than to have a sa302 tax calculation from HMRC madness

I reckon Santander are trying to buy time, and the totally absurd demand to see your SA302 is a red herring. If there is a criminal investigation going on, it won't be about your tax refund but matters are out of Santander's hand and with the NCA.

Have you written to the Santander CEO, and to your MP, yet? What did they say?

I would ring HMRC again and see if they can contact Santander directly? Worth a shot OP

I have emailed the CEO not my mp yet .
As for a criminal investigation my banking is pretty normal I don't have all mad payments going in or out just wages in and Bill's out that's it no faster payments I don't even use if to shop online.
