Santander still have my money an account still frozen1

Ok Fellow Members. I have landed in to similar situation with Santander now. Received my SA tax rebate to my 123 Santander account and all access gets restricted since. Santander asked to provide all my SA books for last 3 tax years (as 3 years tax rebate received) which is around 350-400 pages to print out plus all receipts and parking tickets etc. Told by Santander adviser that They act on behalf of HMRC to check if my tax affairs and all claimed are genuine, but after I spoke to HMRC they reassure me no instructions were given from them to Santander to do so. So Santander are lied to me on the phone twice in regards of checks should be made on behalf of HMRC. Now they telling me to await for an email link to upload all books as evidence for an investigation which can take up to virtually unlimited time. After reading all above I can tell that my chances are slim now.0

Relying on a single partner is ok so long as they rely only on you. It creates a need for mutual survival.colsten said
relying on a single current account is bound to lead to problems with any bank at some stage. Same goes for your partner.1 -
LOL, you misunderstand. I wasn't suggesting the OP should have more than one partner. What I mean is that the partner of the OP should not rely on just one current account, either.Grumpy_chap said:

Ah man! im glad I have read this! i'm having the exact same issue with Santander. I also received a credit for overpaid tax in April 2020 via BACS and Santander instantly blocked my account. They requested info just like yourself, I have provided evidence including sending in my CIS statements to show I have been paying tax. Originally they questioned why there is no payments to HMRC, I had to endure the difficulties in explaining to their "investigators" that TAX is deducted before I am paid by my contractors, then they asked for "PAY SLIPS", again I had to explain I do not issue myself "PAYSLIPS"!byrnez92 said:Hi my bank account has been frozen now for 10 days due to a tax refund going which the bank flagged as suspicious activity they have asked me to provide evidence of where the payment came from which I have produced 7 days ago. Alls I get off the bank when I contact is it will be sorted tomorrow but it still not sorted what else can I do?
BUT I do have CIS statements to show my deductions etc for the year ending 2020. I gave this to them, again this was insufficient evidence???? of course being back and fourth with HMRC, and they keep confirming the payment is genuine, payable and due. HMRC have even issued a letter for "production to Santander" which I have uploaded, confirming the payment, acc number, sort code, date etc etc... and adviced that the payment is payable and due, and to release the funds in full.
This was 2 weeks ago, and yet Santander continue to state this is "INSUFFICIENT EVIDENCE" that the payment is due to me...0 -

Sadly, byrnez92 wasn't decent enough to come back and conclude this thread from May after a flurry of postings. I guess we can conclude he got access to his account after all, or expired from starvation. Neither much help to you.nascimentouk said:This was 2 weeks ago, and yet Santander continue to state this is "INSUFFICIENT EVIDENCE" that the payment is due to me...0 -
Would you by any chance have a personal account - whereby the post above suggests it is used for business transactions?nascimentouk said:
