Thanks for the info custardy.  There was mentions of not delivering LL on Saturday 'unless they come in parcel Yorks'.  Can you expalin what this means please?  Yorks, I think, are the large cages carrying post but do some LL end up in Yorks and some not?
    Thanks.

Yes. Yorks are the large trolleys used to transport mail. sleeved yorks or hoods in RM slang can carry smaller items. non machinable LLs will often end up in hoods after hand sorting.
So think LLs that go beyond a thick letter, odd shapes,LLs with thick items inside them.
You only really want letter type LLs in the trays of mail or the trays fill up fast and take up lots of space for transportation vs sorting into hoods.
Also apparently the guys were briefed today the Saturday is a dress down Friday type affair where they can wear their own clothes vs uniform. No idea whats going on there.

I got letters today.   Actually spoke to my postie and he said they only knew about deliveries today when the staff went into the sorting office.   I said no doubt because of the bank holiday they did not want a bigger backlog.   He agreed.

I had a van turn up at 9am today , left a small parcel, half a dozen large letters and 2 letters (both bills 😕)

Which is at odds with RMs slant of 'taking pressure of posties'
Which is boll@x anyway but its the line they have spun.
