RM remove Saturday letter delivery

For clarity. A directive has gone out that no letters/LL are to be delivered tomorrow.
so if units have held over mail/get mail then they are not to deliver any (this wont be publicly posted by RM)

As custardy says we will have 2 days mail on Monday. Our managers were blindsided on this and apparently it is only for 2 weeks. Probably until they sort something out. This is meant to be helping us out but it's not. In my office we can cope. If mail isn't delivered on one day it will be delivered the next and we are getting paid overtime. We are managing to clear nearly all the parcels same day.

The sorting office I usually send from looks to be in a bit of chaos, so it looks like there are big regional differences.

So from all accounts this scheme to 'ease pressure on posties' has gone as well as expected.
Staff were out doing loads of parcels on Saturday and today have 2 days of letter mail and deep Christmas level packets.
A Great start to the week and from all accounts staff are grateful for that respite.............0 -
I’m still hopeful for our postie today as he hasn’t done our road since Thursday now. I’m sure he’s struggling with the amount of post he has.custardy said:So from all accounts this scheme to 'ease pressure on posties' has gone as well as expected.

I feel for you guys this weekend. There's a bank holiday on Friday that most of the country won't know about.custardy said:So from all accounts this scheme to 'ease pressure on posties' has gone as well as expected.

Dare we hope that you'll resume Saturday deliveries this week?
If not, I think I'll probably shut up shop on Wednesday. If someone buys something first class on Wednesday evening they won't receive it until Monday at the earliest.

If not, I think I'll probably shut up shopSaturday is planned to be as per this Saturday. No letter delivery. on Wednesday. If someone buys something first class on Wednesday evening they won't receive it until Monday at the earliest.
Saturday is planned to be as this past Saturday. No letter deliveries.
I'll be honest the guys are feeling it. Christmas is busy but its over a set period with structure and plenty of experience.
Right now its a relentless onslaught of packets (mainly) with no end in sight.1 -
So,spoke to a postie from a unit I know pretty well.
Its been busy every day and as of today. They still haven't cleared their letters this week.
So double letters Monday, some carried into the next day and repeat.
Tomorrow is the last letter delivery day until Monday.
This unit has not been impacted by COVID19 (sick rates for RM in cetral Scotland are pretty good right now) and sick is very low. The reason for not clearing is some impact from social distancing but primarily not staffing against traffic volumes.
There has been a massive culture change in RM with regards to office clearance in IMO RM are using COVID19 as a way to break the USO and get people used to not getting daily letter deliveries on the softly softly.

I think some people are living in a bubble and have no idea what’s going on generally. Had someone ask about one of my small items on Facebook, goes large letter and I quote for 2nd class, was just about to pay and comes back to me with the question should they pay extra for 1st class as they must have this for Saturday at the latest. They are completely surprised about the Bank holiday and also had no idea about RM issues- let alone the no letter delivery Saturday issue and I think they believe I am telling lies to get out of selling this to them for some reason.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Even people aware generally connect 'letters' with bills etc.soolin said:I think some people are living in a bubble and have no idea what’s going on generally.
