Good evening ladies. Just an update. Although it rained quite a bit I did manage to have a few hours of no rain. While it rained I painted the two units I undercoated last night. Once it stopped raining I then did a bit of cutting. I also finished off one more unit which I will undercoat tonight. So that will be 3 units being painted in the lounge. The microwave tall unit I managed to progress further today so that will be the next one which will be finished. I managed to polyfill some gaps on the part of the kitchen wall where one of the wall units is going to be hung this weekend. So with some luck by end of weekend I should have 3-4 units all painted and taking their pride of place in the kitchen making a total of 7-8 to date. Fingers crossed! Good morning ladies.On the mortgage frontTomorrow is the day my mortgage payment goes out. I have just gone in to check what the current balance is as by now they have added interest. The interest per month is truly now ridiculous!After I made that overpayment and got toAfter the have added interest it has gone back up to£850 was added this month! 🙆🏾♀️ Need to get used to a monthly interest of £1000 I guess? So basically my op of £999.99 will generally go to at least cover the monthly interest so I can make the necessary progress.On the kitchen cabinet front
Well thankfully yesterday was a dry although cloudy day mostly. Managed to progress the cabinets and now I have 5 complete units in the lounge. I generally do the painting during the night and so it’s easier to do it in the house. It will be difficult to do the painting in the garage as it is full of metal, machines and cabinets which are still not complete. In the house I can paint while watching tv and it’s also nice and warm. ALSO it means after a few hours I can quickly apply the next coat before going to bed or before bathing to go to work! I hope you get the picture? Painting in the house is the most workable but it does cause so much congestion as like now I have 5 UNITS in the lounge!So ladies I am really excited as I have mentioned I have 5 units almost ready! Almost as they need painting and also I need to cut the wood paint it and screw it on. I managed to cut wood for one cabinet so 4 more cabinet wood to cut. Then prime the wood and paint it only THEN are they ready for use and onto the next!On to the next I have 2 units in garage which I welded this last week, I hope to weld another two units today if possible before the rains this week! While it’s raining I can generally be painting the wood in the kitchen and store it all over the house rested on the walls.Writing it all down so I can continue motivating myself otherwise I could just say oh forget it!I hope you have all had a lovely weekend?Initial mortgage bal £487.5k, current £258k, target £243,750(halfway!)

New day new gloves. The ones I have been using are now so worn out!Seen better daysI am starting the sink unit today. Will try to push through a lot of welding as rains are predicted as from tomorrow. At least I have so much work I can progress indoors after today if it should be wet coming week.Initial mortgage bal £487.5k, current £258k, target £243,750(halfway!)

I had the survey on the new house and the roofs are in a terrible state so I'm pulling out when I have the report to give them.
Rather gutted but glad the survey found the issues!
I had always planned to split the chain and stay with family in between.
I guess hopefully I find something new soon!0 -
@Sistergold amazing work!
@EndlessStruggle I'm so sorry! That's rubbish! I hope you find somewhere else soon. I has 2 places fall through before buying my house. It's very upsetting.
I'm in my house now! Woo! Things keep breaking but I'm trying to keep my mood up. The toilet is the worst one. Plumber is coming this afternoon as I hope it doesn't cost a fortune!
It feels odd to have a mortgage at last. I've not made any proper over payments yet but am putting money to one side to pay once I've figured out all my bills.

Oh thanks @Jak and hope the “house settles” down soon and not have anything break. Good that you have a plumber coming in soon. Congratulations! Overpayments can always be done later, I think it took me almost a year to start OPs, you just need to make sure that house is sound before you start OPs as you might just need the extra money.@EndlessStruggle, sorry to hear that the house is not in good condition, thank goodness you found out now rather than later.Initial mortgage bal £487.5k, current £258k, target £243,750(halfway!)

Ooooh what a great thread.
I’m single, 42 and no kids. Currently saving up so that I can buy something with either no mortgage or a small mortgage - I’m talking a studio flat or one bedroom - I’m not fussed about space, I’d rather have the freedom of no mortgage. A little outdoor space would be nice so I can get a dog.I’m not currently living in the UK, work overseas, so won’t be buying any time soon.2 -
Welcome to SLLMs @ms_london. Studio flat sounds perfect with no children and mortgage free or little mortgage is a happy place to be for sure! We will be cheering you on so you find a place of your own! Feel free to post your progress in saving for your mortgagee property too!
