Thank you ladies will post pictures once a cabinet is completed all stages. Just come from b&q as I was given the wrong paint. When I was there on the day there was a lady requesting a purple paint to be mixed I had ordered a grey paint. Opened tin last night and found purple inside but on the outside my chosen colour label was on stuck on the tin. So went today had to wait while they mixed another tin for me of metal paint.

wish I could have found someone to do it professionally for me but although it will not be the most beautiful kitchen the experience has been wonderful! I have had a lot of fun later I can decide whether it was worth it so as to keep it or put it down to experience and ditch it for a fitted wood cabinetry. Either way I will keep the units until we out of this financial and economic crisis. But who knows I might just love the diy kitchen with all its flaws. 🤷‍♀️Functionality is great and the units are strong so at least I will have units for use for now. The kitchen cabinets I inherited were falling apart and I had a lot of blank areas.

Decided to post some of cabinets I have done so far as the final reveal might never come! Lol, since I am doing it in my spare time who knows when I will finish the kitchen? 🤷‍♀️😂😅🤪

Hello everyone,  i’ve been missing in action for a while because I have my headdown tail up trying to remain employed in an almost impossible position luckily I decided to take action after I got back off my holiday because I was actually anxious about going back into the office which is never a good sign is it ?
Within a matter of weeks I’ve manage to secure myself a new role with a little tiny pay rise.  I haven’t signed anything yet because I’ve got three other irons in the fire which frankly all better options but we’ll see what next week brings.
On the house front,  my kitchen ceiling fell down last week which is a lot more positive news that it might of first seem.  Obviously it’s going to need replacing along with the bathroom flooring so it’s an insurance job.  My kitchen units were damaged which I am hoping may mean I at least get a contribution towards the new kitchen.  🤞
So now I’m back in the same boat trying to decide which to prioritise,  i’m leaning towards directing all funds towards the bathroom and getting new nice flooring,  a lovely toilet and sink basin and a new bath and shower.  I had intended to go crazy and go for really high and fittings but what I’m actually hoping is gonna happen here if the market does crash a little bit I might be able to buy a 250 house for £225 ish and rent this one out instead.  My 25% pension payment when I’m 58 will cover the bass majority of this mortgage anyway so I’m quite comfortable putting it on interest only.

Hello @SuseOrm, nice to hear that you have managed to sort things out or are in moving in the right direction as far as work is concerned. One needs to feel secure and happy in their role.
Good luck with the kitchen and bathroom. Always nice to have a nice bathroom And kitchen although both can gobble money very quickly! 🤞

I feel like this house has been a good practice house and I will miss it.

I had never done any DIY before here and I've learnt a lot of skills.

I've also really got into gardening, having a south facing house!

The new one is East/South/West so I'll still have good sun for growing.

I've finally got myself a heated blanket (they've been out of stock for ages) and WOW I love it.

I am loving this!! Well done ;) I actually really like that metal effect and all the bare metal. Please post pics when they all up.

We are doing soldering next week I think in DIY class on plumbing joints - this week was carpentry joints and I was happily sawing and chiselling away by the end despite never having done either before.
I saw some glorious tables and bar stools recently all very expensive and I did think 'Oh I could learn to weld like Sister Gold and make them myself'- did you go to class to weld or was it all self taught after your various classes and home DIY/?

@SuseOrm your ceiling fell down?! Glad you OK.

Hope everyone is settling in their new homes  - i am also eyeing up a heated throw..@EndlessStruggle so good to know you love it
    DON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)
No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff.    Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.
