Where are your outside grids?  I'm guessing near the kitchen window but what about round the garage, maybe water draining off the roof?

By the kitchen window on the outside there is no grids(is that the drainage?), the pipe work from sink/washing machine do run by the window on the inside and the is a pipe in the kitchen which also comes from upstairs bedroom by the bathroom, goes into ground from inside house into manhole inside neighbors garage. Behind garage there is where water drains from roof, corner marked C on picture. Can waste water from washing machine go into there?

At least it will only be one water pipe to go through as most washers are cold water fill now.

Yes one water pipe. Infact the outside tape to water the garden is inside the garage so that’s lucky

Well I don't think seeing my bill will help any as it certainly didn't me.  British gas told me they expect my usage on the new rates from April 1st to cost £3100 for the year & if I take the fix they are offering £4400 for the year.  I was £10 in debit at the end of March.  So why on earth have they reduced my DD to just under £220/month, almost £500 short & the price is going up again in September.  However a debt of £500 does mean that they won't let you move to another supplier.  Me cynical never.  Mind you I don't trust BG since they tried to charge me for fixing a gas leak that they left me with when they fitted a new meter.

@badmemory, your direct debit has gone down? You are doing better than me. The -ve balance I can clear before hand if I needed to move supplier but I can not be bothered to move at the moment. What I will do is maybe go into my account and increase my direct debit by £100 or more hopefully since it is warmer season I can be in credit by beginning of next winter.

  • Hello Sistergold. I am 50 and separating from my partner of 27 years and about to buy a house. I wanted to thank you for this diary. I am only a page in and already I feel it will be invaluable for me. I wake at 3am with my heart pounding, worrying about the responsibility on my own. I organised so much of the finances, food, bills etc and yet weirdly when I don't have my husband around I think I will be some how incapable. I love that you went on courses to teach yourself DIY skills. Brilliant.
