  • I moved in today.

    It didn't go without a hitch, my car refused to start first thing. The battery had been a bit temperamental but decided today was the time to go!

    My movers were so lovely, they phoned a friend who came and jumped me and he helped with the rest of the move as we overran a little then I kept the car running until I could get to get a new one fitted.

    They were so great I gave them an extra £50 to take their friend out to the pub and a tip.

    The internet engineer couldn't connect the wifi either, openreach need to sort it.

    I also thought I had broken the boiler as I had it on a setting where it wouldn't come on after 6pm.

    It's been a day  :#

    Glad that you are in. Congratulations.

    @Friday and Sister Gold

    I have a cleaner - and she tidies too. I make it look 'respectable' she takes it to the next level beyond that. Especially when I'm feeling over-whelmed. I don't manage well without one... It's been 3 weeks since she's last been due to covid in our house last week as well as the xmas break...

  • So today I popped a post on Facebook about a damaged board I have that needs replacing. It's under the gutters/soffits and the gutters need sorting so I thought that someone could do both....

    Someone commented that it might be asbestos so I've now contacted an asbestos company to come and check whether it is and they will remove it and have another company replace it with UPVC and they will also sort the gutters.

    I've got a boiler service on Friday so it's all go. I will give it another day or so before I reach out to another plumber and handyman!

    Yes, my survey was pretty colourful to say the least but he is well known for being extremely through.

    Luckily mostly orange and a few red but all the damp is explainable by leaks from the guttering/shower and the felt roofs are on the way out but aren't leaking yet.

    OMG. My oven has just blown the fuse so that is knackered.... I really wish they had been honest that it was broken as I could have ordered one before...

    The hob works so I can cook part of my dinner that way.

    @EndlessStruggle, it’s amazing how you just get teething problems when trying to settle in? It’s almost like testing your strength! At least armed with your survey you have an idea what to prioritise? Thank God you can cook something, no oven meals for now. I find AO.com very quick for electrical goods so far.  X

    Thanks @Sistergold I am very lucky in my cleaner. I've had a series of them but she's been the best.

    @EndlessStruggle It will get better. Well done for persevering. I'm sure you will soon have the place shipshape.
