Dunno what FTFY means - but the meter is working as a meter, the fact that it's dumb doesn't seem to have impaired it ability to record the energy flowing through it as an E7 meter

Even my quite old non smart  E7 meter needed to have buttons to push to determine the two readings, it would also cycle through a total, the time time, date, and a couple of other random readings which didn't seem to have much relevance.
It also didn't actually have the words DAY and NIGHT write large like that one does, it had summat like R1 & R2 so you had to guess what you were reading so it's not really all that difficult to read this one.

I know you have an extreme dislike of smart meters but in the end it's a meter and its doing it's job and it's not really all that hard to read
Never under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers

Smart meters were heavily promoted as ending estimated bills and not requiring customer readings, but the OP has been billed excessively despite having a new smart meter which he has difficulty reading.
IMHO it's clearly not doing its job, having gone dumb, but we'll have to agree to disagree.
