My theory is that the meter change update wasn't recorded correctly.

But UW were issuing bills from the meter before Eon took over?  And the serial number is correct?

    [Not disagreeing BTW, just puzzled!]

Perhaps it's that a case that the so-called smart meter has gone dumb, E.On are still expecting smart readings but The Computer Says No to all attempts at entering manual readings?

According to your UW bill, in December 2019 you used 156kWh day units and 1227kWh night units and the meter readings were 651 & 2586 respectively.  The meter readings today of 1051 & 6286 are in line with that level of consumption.  One wonders where Eon are getting their figures from??
It’s funny because the level of consumption after the UW bill in December, l live on my own and have stayed in hotels for 29 nights this year since January, that’s why when l seen the consumption used, thought the meter must be faulty. 🤯

The bill on page 1 of this thread show that e.on have the correct meter. I assume there's an issue with their opening readings.

I don't know what has happened  - perhaps human error - a wrong figure has been entered.

Richard of Wrexham - my suggestion is that (as in an earlier post) your write a letter headed COMPLAINT - don't phone, or email - enclose the photos, your Eon ref number, and all the readings you've taken - and wait for their response. In the meantime keep reading that meter. I would expect Eon's computer to reject your figures.

It's still really really hard to determine whether the OP actually gave the opening readings to the supplier and then checked his on-line account when it was set up to see what readings were being used. This does seem fundamental to the whole issue going forwards. If he did then where did they conjure up the strange meter reading that was used and why wasn't it chased up at the time..

This thread is going round and round in circles - it's pretty obvious that the meter seems to be doing what it should and is producing both day and night readings but it's not obvious that meter readings are actually being taken and sent to the supplier or that the supplier is using them.

It's sort of irrelevant whether the OP has been away for a lot of nights. If the meter readings were incorrect and we don't know what might have been left turned on during his absence (heating, hot water, fridges, freezers, routers, TV , Sky box etc)
Just saying that you don't think you've used much because you haven't been there is not the same as checking the meter sufficiently frequently so you actually have a record of what you've used.and when.

What is also obvious is that keep phoning is a waste of breath and effort, so a clear and succinct letter/e-mail marked very clearly COMPLAINT should be sent detailing what went on and when and asking for a resolution or a deadlock letter so it can be escalated to the ombudsman.

It's pretty obvious that the meter is not doing what it should because it's not easy to read manually by a reasonably competent lay person without specialised knowledge.
