Okay. So I just woke up. I intend to smoke my final two cigarettes before returning to slumberland. I can quit again in the morning
Any further encouragement is welcome

What do you think it would take to make you stop, and stop quickly?Encouragement? Scare tactics? Horror stories? What if continuing the smoking meant that holiday would not be able to happen as your lungs wouldn't be up to scratch for the diving? What if I told you my grandmother smoked - and by the time she was 65 was living off an oxygen machine until the day she died (some 20 years later) not leaving the house except by ambulance for hospital appointments?
Or do you have the 'it won't happen to me' syndrome of knowing the risks but ignoring them? What if smoking was seen as a debt - the more you smoked - the more debt your body has to repay - shortening your ability to having a normal life? Giving up and stopping right now will extend your healthy years. Continuing to drag those chemicals into your lungs will mean a considerably more difficult old age. You're great at giving support to people with debt - and you're very good at it... This debt to your body needs sorting out thoughIt's tough - but you can do it.

Today is the day you choose to become a NON SMOKER. Take it one day at a time and buy those carrots!!!!

OMG - I am so sad.
So today is the day I stop buying cigarettes and abstain from further abuse of my body.
I am 'sad' because I dug out a packet of rizlas hidden away in a draw, and am using them to make roll-ups from the cigarette butts. This is my last 'hit' though...

Good new though. I did not buy any more smokes.
What I did do was to buy a ton of chocolate and crisps, as a Nicotine Replacement Therapy product.(Sadly, I do not like raw carrots)
Looks like I just have to accept that I will be fat.
Still, obesity is preferential when compared to having lungs that resemble a pair of kippers!

You can work on losing the weight once you're a true non smoker again. That's what I did!
Just think about that long diving holiday! Save the money towards your holiday that you would have spent on smokes. I wish I'd done that when I gave up as between us DH and I were spending something like £100 a week and that was nearly 10 years ago now we would have been well off, although we spent a lot of it on the house and on holidays so not really wasted.

Yay for me. No smoking now for 24 hours.
Also installed YNAB Classic on to my new phone so that I can start managing my budget properly again (I haven't used it for six months).
Anyone reading should know that YNAB is the solution to all your budgeting problems. Check it out on a free trial.

Well done Willing. Now for the next 24 hours - one day at a time. You can do this.
I'm still using YNAB Classic. Been using it for years now it's the best budgeting tool ever! We've managed to have several holidays a year since I started using it. No idea what the new version is like but I don't like the idea of having to pay monthly or annually for it! Glad I paid for the one off version. I just hope it doesn't pack up now that they've stopped supporting it but so far so good.
