The judges only tend to question consent orders if they are unusual. a 50/50 split is highly likely to raise no flags at all..Aug 24 - Mortgage Balance £242,040.19

£1200 could be cheap or expensive, depending on where you live and how much work involved. Also £1200 is the equivalent of 5 hours work, which again could be appropriate.
Locally i'd expect to pay no more than £5-600, but i'm in the northwest. Additionally I am capable of putting together a concise document so a paralegal can formalise it.
It depends on what you can do yourself - I needed legal representation about 6 years ago. Solicitor wanted to charge £250 to do my witness statement as a respondent. 2 hours later I emailed through a witness statement which took 10-15 minutes to format. Charged me £zero. (though of course i still paid £350 for representation on the day, but cutting cost nearly in half was worth it)

Be aware, when you get your inheritance, if it is in excess of £16,500 (I think that is still the figure) any state help you receive would be reduced £ for £ for all sums above that amount. Take that into account when conceding any figures with him.1
