Glad it's a rental bubbs although you'll lose the gas that's already in there which you've already paid for and I know that's not cheap - Calor are probably the most expensive gas supplier in the world! We've got tanks on the motorhome now so can fill up at the local supermarket where it currently costs 57.7p per litre.
Why do things like this always go wrong at holiday times! but they seem to.
Back later with menu plan.

Right I'm back again. Had breakfast, done a machine load of washing and hung out on line and dishwasher now on. Have also cut up half a melon that is finally ripe, actually bought it before Christmas but it's taken all this time to ripen properly! But it's lovely and sweet and juicy!
Today is the start of a new week so new syn bank of 105. No idea how but I actually managed to maintain this week. Was a real surprise as I was probably almost double syns over the week. Definitely need to keep an eye on syns this week though as don't want last week to catch up with me!
Today's plan:
B - baked oats, mixed frozen exotic fruits, yoghurt - HEB; S; F
L - leek and barley soup (from freezer) - P; S; F
D - LO Irish stew - P; S; F; may need a little cornflour to thicken the juices but won't bother synning it because it will be so little between the two of us!
HEA - milk
HEB - oats
Syns - teacake 4
Is anyone staying up to let out the old year and let in the new? Don't think we'll be bothering - seems little point really. The new year will come in even if we don't see out the old, LOL!

We'll definitely be seeing the New Year in. I don't go to bed until after midnight anyway but we'll make a bit of an effort tonight. 😊
STS is good after Christmas denise. Well done.😊 I'm not even trying to count syns until next week. I really excelled myself with goodies last night. I was so fed up after the PM's press conference that I had wine, crisps, chocolate and cheese!! I was really hoping that after the vaccine I could rush off to Bingo with wild abandon. Gutted!! 🤣
Hopefully my chocolates will be finished by Sunday and DH can eat up anything else that's left. Meanwhile I'm still doing OK with meals although dauphinoise tonight may be a bit synful. I reckon it's about 5 syns if I count the cheese as HEA. Were having a lovely thick piece of undyed smoked haddock. I'm doing some tinned veg like my French niece showed me. Basically fry an onion until golden, add the 'juice' from a tin of peas and a carrots and a pinch of sugar/sweetener. Then when it's heated through add the other veg. We'd normally have it with duck confit but we don't have any. 😢
Today's EE plan-
B- NAS grapefruit squash (F), HEB toast, HEA1 milk, fried eggs (P), tomatoes and mushrooms (S)
L- JP (F) with savoury mince (P,S), and beetroot (S)
D- baked haddock (P), peas F), carrots, onion, tenderstem broccoli (S). potatoes
Syns- dauphinoise 5, more goodies !!1 -
The veg sounds different maman. Let us know if it's any good. Is that a separate tin of peas and carrots or one of those combined ones which you can buy in France? I suppose it's a bit like braised lettuce, spring onions and peas which I sometimes do when I've got too much lettuce left at the end of the week before buying fresh.
I don't often do dauphinoise but do occasionally do Boulanger potatoes, although not done that for a while. Saying that we're having lamb shank at the end of this month so might do it to go with that instead of doing roasties!

It is a good way of tarting up tinned veg. In France I'd buy a tin or a jar but I have a mixed tin I bought here, think it's Batchelors. I like the idea of using up lettuce like that though.
Boulangere is a brilliant idea as it's free! I'll add that to the menu too., thanks for the reminder. I often add mushrooms as well as the onions. 😋
Any ideas for a name for a new thread? 🤔1 -
How about New Year: Fresh Start?
I think we probably all feel the need for a Fresh Start - I know I do! I appreciate that I have managed to maintain, but as I said, absolutely no idea how, it's certainly not from sticking to plan - that much I do know!!!
To be honest I'm getting a bit fed up at hovering around top end of target and would really like to get back nearer to my target weight so that I'm not constantly worrying about whether I've had too many syns!
Because Boulangere potatoes are Free that's why I like them. As much as I like dauphinoise potatoes I don't really make them because of the syns but I would happily syn them if they were on a menu when I went out (whenever we might be able to do that again!!!); although it's not something you see on a menu very often.
I think I've got tinned peas and carrots in the motorhome so might have to bring those in and do those veg - it'll also use them up as I don't tend to use tinned veg at home. Haven't got many tins left out in the motorhome as have bought most of them in now but didn't have room for them all originally but I've been bringing them in gradually when I've got some space!

Thanks denise. 😊 Totally agree about hovering at the top end of target range. It's depressing and needs work. 😉
I think it's worth having some tinned veg available in case of shortages. You're right that dauphinoise is rarely on menus and even then tiny portions and disappointing.2 -

Glad to hear you won't lose the gas bubbs. That's a great price and certainly a lot cheaper than Calor charge for the small bottle which are used in a motorhome or caravan! The last one I bought was for my DD2 about 5 years ago and that cost over £40 but that included the rental. I think the refills are about £26 - that's for a 6 Kg size (12 litres so over £2 ppl!).
It might have been a weird breakfast but did you enjoy it? As long as you did it doesn't really matter! Personally I think I'd of had that for lunch and the omelette for breakfast!
KFC is back on the menu next month - tomorrow in fact! Hopefully DH won't moan tomorrow but we haven't had chicken for quite a while now so no reason why he should - but we'll see!

KFC here tomorrow too! I just made up a jar of the coating. 😁1
