Have decided against the dumpling as I don't really enjoy them so just making a couple for DH but as I've made some popcorn (I only did a very small amount with the Marmite and wasn't keen so didn't bother and DH ate it) - didn't taste anything like Twiglets unfortunately maman! I'm just going to have some plain popcorn although I've put a bit of salt and sweetener on them but can't actually taste it so that will do for this evening to pick on.
I never used to pick in the evenings but just lately I seem to want something so hoping that the popcorn does the job tonight but we'll see. It's the first time I've used ordinary popping corn and done it in the microwave in a paper bag and was very pleased that it worked - I saw it done this way on an American cookery programme recently so thought I'd give it a go; although the American microwave actually. had a Popcorn setting! I just microwaved for 30 seconds at a time until the popping seemed to have stopped - about 2.5 minutes in the end but think it could probably have done with another 30 seconds as there was still quite a bit unpopped in the bottom of the bag.1 -
Popcorn in the microwave sounds good. I haven’t made any for ages - I bought dh a popcorn maker last Christmas and we went a bit mad at first then didn’t bother with it. Thanks for reminding me 👍I tossed it in a teaspoon of icing sugar and bit of salt....I’m not keen on sweetenerJanuary spends - £587.582

I haven't made any for ages either milann. We used to have a popcorn maker but like you went mad with it when we got it and then didn't bother with it so ended up taking to the charity shop but spotted some popping corn when we were shopping a couple of weeks ago and thought "why not" so bought some but this is the first time I've done it in the microwave and was glad that it worked. Should have said you just put the corn into a paper bag, fold over the top a couple of times and then lay it on its side on the turntable of your microwave. Would think you'd be able to do it in a pyrex basin with a plate on top but haven't tried that!

I remember making popcorn in a bowl years ago when the children were young, just for fun. Like you, denise, I have snacked on Puffed Wheat but that's very rare as I never have HEB going spare. How many syns for popcorn? 🤔 I was wondering how it compares with cereal. 🤔1

Plain, air popped, popcorn is 5.5 syns for 25g (which is just over a Tbs of unpopped corn) - they've increased the syns over time! When I used to use it previously it was 5 syns for 25g! So although it's lower syn than puffed wheat you can have more of the cereal than popcorn! They seem to be constantly fiddling with syns. Lots of things have changed over the years I've been doing SW - usually upwards of course.
I've no idea why they think they needed up add syns to Jordans skinny syrups, after all they are 0 syns, 0 fat, 0 sugar which are the reasons there are usually syns. I thought I'd try putting it through the Syn Estimator (just for info!) and it did come out at 0.5 syns for 1 Tbs.1 -
Evening all
Hope we are all ok?
It's turned bloomin cold tonight, car is covered ready for Jack.
Denise, that is exactly what i am doing although with my service plan i never had to pay for MOT and they always washed the car too, now that's a bonus in my book as my car is ALWAYS FILTHY and it's white 🙄

Yes, definitely a bonus getting the car cleaned inside and out! Mine is always dirty too because I live on an unmade road which gets extremely muddy in the winter and, like yours, is white!
Definitely 3 hearty (and healthy!) meals today bubbs. Good to see you not skipping meals. I enjoyed the cheesy garlic mushrooms we had for lunch today, along with the roasted jacket potatoes.
Not too greedy maman if you've managed to keep some of the cottage pie for tomorrow!
