I redid my freezer inventory and gave it a good tidy on Friday after defrosting it. At least I know that I've got everything I need for meatwise for this month's menu plan! Need to buy fresh fruit and veg but nothing needed until Tuesday and then it's only a trip to the farm shop as I need some leeks for a couple of meals next week but at the moment that's about it. May also need some more carrots by then as well!
Making some marmalade for DH at the moment, just boiling it at the moment before testing for setting point; in fact need to go and give it another stir shortly. Got about another 10 minutes boiling before testing though.
We were supposed to be having roast pork today but for some reason I got chicken out so have just swapped plans for today and tomorrow with next weeks meals! It's a very big chicken so suspect quite a bit will be going back in the freezer as curry, in gravy for a mid week roast and will probably slice some to have in sandwiches or with salad for lunches this week.

I know they're not suitable for all recipes but I use frozen leeks from Farmfoods. They work out at 89p per kg which I think is worth it to have them ready cleaned and sliced. 😉1

Unfortunately maman we don't have a Farmfoods anywhere near us. The only freezer place we have is The Food Warehouse and a smaller Iceland and don't think I've ever seen frozen leeks. Frozen ones would be great for the dishes I need them for this week if I could get them but the farm shop is much closer than either of the freezer places! Iceland is about 8 miles and the Food Warehouse about 15 miles! The farm shop is about 5 miles. Makes quite a difference when I only need veg!
Have jarred up 6lb of marmalade for DH in 7 jars (didn't have enough lb jars so have had to use a selection of sizes from 1/2lb up to lb with most being in-between! Just waiting for them to cool down so that I can stick some labels on them with the date made.1 -
Very industrious denise. 😁1

It'll keep him happy for a few months! I only make it about every nine-ten months. Last lot was made in January.
Didn't get out for a walk but have done quite a bit of walking about indoors and in the garden but steps are well done on yesterday.
Have decided to have gin & tonic rather than rum and ginger beer for a change! Think it's time for one now while I wait for dinner to cook.2 -
Dangerous time here. The pork is resting and I keep picking off bits of crackling. 🤣4

That's the trouble with pork! Think we all love a bit of crackling2

Thanks bubbs. Think I might have to do the extra miles as I wouldn't mind getting lemons, sugar snaps and red onions as well as leeks. Means a 16-17 mile round trip but worth it to get that lot. I'm going to have a go at making preserved lemons as I use them when I make tagines and they are extremely expensive to buy!
DH has stripped the chicken and I can't believe how much meat there is. We'll have some tomorrow for dinner and I'll make a sweet and sour for Tuesday. There will definitely be enough to do a couple of trays of slices in gravy for mid week roasts - so at least 10 portions, not bad for a chicken I got on special offer for about £2! It weighed over 2 Kg so it was a fair size.
