Thanks klew, that does sound tasty and a decent meal too. I had visions of just a measly bowl of rice. 😉 It's obviously a variation on a theme. My jambalaya is almost like paella but without the seafood.
I'm going to batch cook some brown rice today as I've none in the freezer. I make my equivalent to microwave pouches and it makes for a very quick meal with chilli or we like the nutty flavour with mushroom stroganoff too. I'm having my stew today, at last. I made two portions, which are in the fridge. Not sure whether to freeze one or have more later in the week.🤔
Slate clean today and back to 105 syns. I don't envisage anything off plan this week so should be OK.
Today's EE plan-
B-- NAS grapefruit, baked beans (F), bacon, fried egg (P), HEB toast, HEA1 milk
L- Beef stew (P,S, F)
D- SW Bolognese (P,S), pasta (F), HEA2 Parmesan
Syns- 0😁1 -
Afternoon all,
I've been trying to keep up with the chatter here, but was a bit unwell earlier in the week, so sorry if I've missed any news of losses.
Plan has been here/there, but mainly about eating anything I can stomach.
Today's plan:
B - porridge HEB, skinny syrup (finally got some - it's free, right?) cinnamon & apple slices, milk from HEA
L - 1 slice wm Neville's with chicken slices (3); mango/strawberries/pineapple & cream (3);
D - butterfly chicken, savoury rice & veg
Have a great day everyone - at least it's stopped raining here!
One day the clocks will stop, and time won't mean a thing

Sorry to hear you have been unwell, hopefully you're feeling better now. Yes skinny syrups are Free. I really must get some as haven't had any for quite a time now and overnight oats and porridge aren't the same without them, sweetener on its' own doesn't do it for me.
Not raining here now either. Stopped about 10 o'clock this morning but it is a bit grey so don't know if we're going to get some more! Hopefully not.
Edited at 2.40pm:
Have just had a very heavy shower, couldn't believe how loud it was!
An update on the SW lunch bowl meal - it was just a spicy mix of chicken, chickpeas and cauliflower, with pearl barley and quinoa. There was a small amount of spinach in it as well. I certainly won't be wasting nearly an hour (according to the website) making it!). Would be longer than that as I use dried chickpeas so would need to cook them first as well as soaking them overnight! Quite honestly the chickpeas in the lunch bowl could have done with being cooked a bit more.

Thank you. I was absolutely amazed!
I'm going to try and stick completely to plan this week and not have so many syns over the weekend that I need to do damage limitation next week, LOL!1 -
I missed your post about WI denise. That's brilliant being well within range. 👏👏👏
Aldi Super 6 looks good for me bubbs. I hope they have them in stock locally. I'd buy them all. 😊
Sounds like you have long Covid sary. Is your GP able to help at all? So sorry to hear you're feeling rough. I'm sure trying to stay on plan will help if you can. Although it's vanity that drives me most 😉 I am especially conscious that staying a healthy weight and eating well is essential at the moment. 😊2 -
Thanks foe the syrup info Denise. They had lots of flavours, but I got the plain one as I think it will be most versatile.Maman I think I do have long covid, and each week is different. Even days can be different. Today I have mouth ulcers, headache and sore throat, on top of the queasiness.I couldn’t manage the chicken for dinner so did OH sweet & sour with rice and I had toast. sary I've never seen a plain skinny syrup, they've always been various flavours. I've tried a few but so far only really liked the S'Mores one. Where do you buy yours from? I've only seen them in T K Maxx.0

Sary it sounds as though you’ve been really poorly. Hope you feel better soon.
ive had a bit of a strange week. We have workmen in knocking walls down and putting new walls up. The contents of my kitchen are in boxes about the house. Since I’m still pretty much out of action lifting and carrying things - I’m at dh mercy. I’ve tried to stay on plan the best I can....but I succumbed to a lovely steak and chips in Wsp00ns today....in my defence I gave dh half my chips. I’ll just have to do the best I can fro a while until I have a working kitchen again and I’m back to fully functioning myself.January spends - £587.581 -
Morning all.
Well done on staying within target range denise after your holiday.
Hope you're feeling better soon sary - definitely sounds like "long covid" to me. I'm having the extreme exhaustion again and ended up in bed at 8pm last night because I couldn't keep my eyes open. Still feeling really lethargic and low energy this morning along with shortness of breath again so just going to take it easy and work when I can today. Look after yourself!
Hope the work is finished soon milann!
Feeling a bit bloated today also so trying to mitigate with lots of peppermint tea and water today. Had overnight oats again this morning and was very pleased I had these in the fridge as making something would have required too much effort! Ended up having a stir fry last night rather than the aubergine parmigiana so may have that for lunch or make a salad bowl if I can be bothered. Dinner tonight is chicken jalfrezi which I'm very much looking forward to as I'm treating myself to a poppadum or two as well. Hope you all have a good day.Emergency Fund - £8572.39 / £10,000 :: Mortgage OP 2025 - £LISA 24/25 - £3200 / £4000 :: NSD 2025 - 2 / 150 :: Books Read: 1 / 52 :: Decluttering - 4 / 1000Engaged 9th December 2010 :: Married 29th October 2015 :: Bought a House 13th January 20171
