Are you still selling/buying on Ebay?

This is true, I wouldn't normally have suggested it but the poster definitely seemed to be of a mind to open a case so I thought asking for the ref no would be less drastic than opening a case to start with.soolin said:
Personally I wouldn’t be doing anything yet , the eBay estimate for delivery hasn’t even been reached ! OP has also said they are having trouble with their post, so why spend time chasing something that isn’t even over due.Spoonie_Turtle said:
In that case I'd start by asking the seller for the reference number, partly to see if the RM page says anything (e.g. if it says delivered but you haven't had it) and partly to check if the seller has proof of postage (wouldn't be a good sign if they haven't). Post varies all over the country at the moment so the fact your one sent item was received so quickly doesn't actually mean anything just now.mimi1234 said:I bought some earphones over a week ago and they have still not arrived. The final date for them to arrive before I can open a case is tomorrow. The seller sent them 1st class.
Funnily enough, I sold something on Monday, posted it 1st class signed for as a parcel yesterday and it was there this morning. I got glowing feedback and thanked with a personal message for the freebies I sent. I'm just trying to get rid of bits and bats and some of the stuff I can't be bothered listing, I just give away as free gifts.
Having said that, we've not even had any letters through the post or over a week now. Hmmm.I think it bad manners to ask a seller if they have proof of posting, the only reason to ask this is to try and show them up as a liar , it is also immaterial. If item doesn’t arrive in a day or two after eBay estimate then just let seller know and if it hasn’t arrived later or seller is dismissive open a case.
If my post read as suggesting asking outright for POP I apologise, that wasn't the intention. In my own experience I find having the reference number myself for an item taking longer than expected helps even if only physiologically, for a few different reasons. Of course an actual tracking number is even more useful but a ref no. tells me that a) it is indeed on its way, and b) I'm not going mad when an item hasn't turned up yet because delivery really hasn't been attempted.
[One time I asked for the ref no. when an item hadn't turned up a week and a half after being marked dispatched and the seller didn't actually respond, but it arrived by special delivery the very next day - they'd sent it shortly after my message! It should have been sent second class so the fact they paid for special delivery made me truly believe it had been an honest mistake that it wasn't originally sent when it should have been.]0 -
I understand your reasoning entirely , there’s a difference between asking for proof of posting, which I find confrontational, and asking for the tracking if item was sent tracked (and of course most are not). The majority of sellers would be uploading tracking or even RM delivery code numbers after dispatch anyway to qualify for seller protection. I rarely ever use any tracking, but all my items apart from normal letters have delivery confirmation and that is uploaded automatically, but is no help at all to track whether an item has been sent as nothing shows u til delivery.Spoonie_Turtle said:

As long as they are not imitating a brand by using any trademarked features or names then fine, my local market does some rather nice plain leather handbags for less than £10.Dorris33 said:I used to buy pre-loved designer handbags on eBay frequently. You know, because it's cheaper than the retail prices of course. But after I read an article on dhanabags.com about how it isn't worth it to drop thousands of dollars on an accessory, I simply stopped my maniac purchase on eBay and started to go for imitation handbags. They are just as good as those self-proclaimed luxury designer houses.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Item finally arrived today. It came via Royal Mail 48. That's not the same as Royal Mail 1st class is it or is it? Anyway, the goods are here and I am pleased.0

RM48 is equivalent to 2nd class so is considered a day slower than 1st in normal times.mimi1234 said:Item finally arrived today. It came via Royal Mail 48. I was quite shocked with a RM48 delivery today as the item was only ordered on Tuesday. Where’s everything else I’ve ordered which has just been normal 1st or 2nd class post has taken between 5 and 12 days to arrive.0

That's sadly irrelevant at the moment and usually is anyway. I've sent first class and second on the same day with everything from second arriving next day and first taking more than a fortnight. Signed for has no impact as they aren't getting signatures anyway, plus if I added signed for I wouldn't sell anything as it pushes me out of a sensible price bracket.mimi1234 said:I bought some earphones over a week ago and they have still not arrived. I'm on a postcode border so I've been switching between the two to drop off in the faint hope that it may make a difference.
