Came back to this thread so many months later to say thanks again to everyone for sharing their comments and helping out when I felt panicked. It's been months since I made that first post, and I'm happy to say that I'm debt-free, have paid back my husband for the £7k he spent to help me clear that debt and I've also built up my emergency savings (6 months net income)
I've been reading on this forum a lot, and I'm also getting financial training through my workplace. Next stop, increasing my pension contribution and getting a stocks & shares ISA20 -
