I can agree with that buck stops with assessors. After fighting them the dwp for fifteen years can't help feeling contempt for the whole department.

Its contempt for the Government and Not the DWP staff who are only carrying out the governments policies or they would loose their jobs ...

Well, there's how the different people *should* do their job, and there's how it happens in reality. But the recent uptick of sensible decisions before claims are due to be heard at tribunal (after unsuccessful MR but before the tribunal) shows there are some DMs who do their job properly. A shame not everyone can or will do it right in the first place, but that's been an extremely well-known issue for years and years. It's moving in the right direction at least, even if slowly.

It will be interesting to see what happens with claims during the suspension period of face-to-face assessments. Assessors won't be able to state they've seem claimants doing things that are physically impossible for them, or that extremely distressed claimants who cried all the way through the assessment 'appeared calm and maintained appropriate eye contact'!

I had no intentions of reviving this thread but proof that this letter means nothing for PIP: my Dad's just got one, but we don't actually know why! The only thing I can think of is maybe they feel the combined effects of his multiple mild/moderate conditions put him on the category. But the point is he's had this letter yet he would score absolutely nothing for PIP.

Let's just hope they are feeling generous when assessing the claims for everyone during this difficult time for everyone . I hope you get yours sorted out without any hassle. I'm hoping my new claim might get through too fingers  crossed . Apologies if my comments might have been a bit strong calcotti and spoonie turtle . Time of month for a middle aged man or I'm losing my marbles not sure which.

Got mine in first of week of lockdown that seems really bad that they are sending them this late and people will have been going out to shop etc when they are supposed to be shielding.

Dad's been off work (furloughed) and only gone occasionally to a couple of small shops / the pharmacy where they're allowing only one or two people in at a time - so definitely not shielding, but not going about normal daily life either. Interesting you got yours only recently calcotti.

(Gig1968 I can only speak for myself but no problem - I very rarely have the energy to take offence even if I wanted to ;) not that I can keep track of who's said what anyway!)
