I think the letter could be very helpful towards a PIP claim. Don't forget PIP and DLA are about the level of help you need and about how your condition affects you and not just about the conditions you have.
If you have one of these letters you have been told in no uncertain terms that you must stay at home for at least three months (unless there is a vaccine soon or it suddenly disappears probably a LOT longer!) as you are deemed by the govt as extremely vulnerable and at risk of severe illness if you catch the virus, someone who is being forced into that position who has significant health problems already has to have a lot of help from family, friends and healthcare workers and not forgetting the mental health issues arising from being in that situation too. It is nonsense to say it won't help.

I don't believe that the letter will be of any help whatsoever. It only deals with how the virus will probably affect you you if you catch it.
Not everything listed is a severe health problem in itself and wouldn't normally affect adversely how you live your life. I am on immunosuppresants for psoriasis. That is not a severe health problem as such. Yes, 60% plaque coverage if I don't take the medicine looks bad, itches like the very devil and tends to leave blood spots on clothing but apart from that I am fit, active and healthy.
The reason I am on the list is that if I catch the virus then my body is not in position to fight it off very well and it could (would?) kill me.
If you look at the list, the majority of conditions centre on a suppressed immune system either from medication to treat a condition or the effect of the condition itself.
So as evidence for PIP then I think it will do nothing3 -

I disagree, sorry. It's a standard letter that was sent to 1.5 million people and doesn't give any information about anyone's conditions. Having received a letter like this doesn't automatically entitle anyone to PIP. DLA no longer exists for those over the age of 16.

As I said in my earlier post I have the letter but I have absolutely no grounds for claiming PIP. The fact that coronavirus might kill me has absolutely no relevance to my current ability to cook, wash, use the toilet, see, talk, walk etc.spingoblin said:I think the letter could be very helpful towards a PIP claim. Ok this was my thinking behind the letter. My pip is up for renewal so I know the letter is not evidence about how my disabilities affect me but what I wanted to try and do with the letter was let the decision maker know right now I am in a vunerable position and for the foreseeable future so please don't stop my pip I guess it's silly thinking the decision maker might have a heart.0

Renewal's and face to face assessments have been suspended for at least 3 months. DWP will extend any awards that are due to end. https://www.gov.uk/government/news/coronavirus-update-benefit-reviews-and-reassessments-suspendedggtazzy said:. My pip is up for renewal

I agree no point us arguing pointless. Let's hope this nightmare buggers off soon and leaves us in peace. I applied for pip on April 1 got text 2 days later but am expecting to join the huge backlog of other claims. I'm not worried about a face to face interview even though it has been suspended as I'm confident I my health correspondence will be enough. Fingers crossdd0
