    3. Airbourne Ambulance services to save OUR lives

    4. The county air ambulance services are there for EVERYONE. You make think you have never needed them but one day you might. The services costs >£10,000 every time a ambulance takes off and the funds are very hard to find and services in each county need to raise >£500,000 a year to keep flying. Unfortunately accidents don't only happen to someone else and there are a number of patients each year that would have either died or suffered severe disability without the benefit of these services. I have never needed the service myself (touch wood) but have seen the service in Staffordshire try it's very best to save a friend of mine involved in an aircraft crash. PLEASE donate to this charity and next time you see the air ambulance flying over just think we help them fly... :-) thanks SK

    The Cystic Fibrosis Trust

    https://www.cftrust.org.uk

Aiming to find a cure for Cystic Fibrosis.

A friend of ours (6 year old boy) has inherited the CF gene from his parents. It is only through this young boy that I have become aware of just how close researchers are to finding a cure for the fatal disease. The current average lifespan of sufferers is just 31 years - researchers have identified the problem gene, and are currently working towards developing a cure. CF is a disesase which may be cureable within a generation, given enough research funds.

In past years, the CF Trust has been a close runner up in the vote for MSE charity - PLEASE help these (and future) kids - lets make CF this year's WINNER.

    SSAFA

    Soldiers Sailors Air Force Association

    http://www.ssafa.org.uk/

Provide help for ex-service personnel in many ways.

Too many times people give up their time and even their health to serve their country and are then pretty much left to fend for themselves. SSAFA helps out those who are impoverished and in need.

    2. https://www.wilmsineurope.net

    3. Childhood Cancer Charity benefiting families affected by Wilm's.

Wilm's Tumour (nephroblastoma) is a rare kidney tumour and affects children normally between the ages of 3 and 5. It is quite a rare cancer and luckily one of the easiest to treat, 90% of children go on to make a full recovery. This charity's work covers many areas, including supporting research into treatment and family oriented aftercare, building a network of support for directly affected families and also helping families directly affected financially with small grants. This is a new charity and needs as much support as possible. My daughter has beaten Wilm's twice now and she's only 5, she has had 2 years of chemotherapy, radiotherapy and surgery. I am a member of Wilm's @ home and I hope that through them I will be able to help and guide people in my area that are affected by Wilm's.
If I told you, you really wouldn't believe it could happen!

1 SANDS – Stillbirth and Neonatal Death Society

    2 https://www.uk-sands.org

3 Support and Information for bereaved parents and families.

In the UK, 16 babies a day are stillborn or die in the first 4 weeks of life.

A baby changes lives. It doesn't matter if that small person has never drawn breath, or has lived only a short time, for the people who are left things are never the same again. At SANDS we know how precious and irreplaceable each baby is.

SANDS helps anyone affected by the death of a baby: mothers, fathers, grandparents, siblings, friends, carers.
SANDS works to promote research into causes of stillbirths and neonatal deaths, and to press for changes in practice that could save more babies’ lives.

When a baby dies it is devastating. SANDS offers support, help, information and friendship through their helpline, local groups and befrienders.

I cannot describe the relief of being able to talk to others who had experienced similar feelings and emotions – I was no longer alone.

    The Macular Disease Society

    https://www.maculardisease.org

UK charity helping people with central vision loss.

The Macular Disease Society is a self-help society for those diagnosed with any of the eye conditions encompassed by the overall name of Macular Disease.

The Society is dedicated to providing information and practical support so that those with the condition may make the most of their remaining vision.

In addition to its prime purpose of providing support for members, the Society actively promotes research into Macular Degeneration by funding research projects at UK hospitals.

I was diagnosed at 33 years of age with Juvenile Macular Degeneration and have found it really hard to come to terms with life now and realise that I took a lot of things visually for granted.
The faulty gene for my particular type of disease (Stargardts) has been identified and it is only a metter of time before some miraculous cure will come about but continuous support financially is needed to keep research going.

    1. Sebastian's Action Trust

    2. https://www.sebastiansactiontrust.org

    3. Building UK holiday home for terminally ill children.

    4. Founded just over a year ago our charity is committed to raising money to provide a much needed holiday home in England for children and their families affected by life threatening illnesses. Initially started by Sebastian Gates who sadly died of a Wilm's tumour and now carried on by his mother Jane Gates and a small support team. So many children are either too ill to travel abroad or can't get insurance cover to do so. Or their families can't afford to take them away anywhere. We are aiming to build within 2 hrs of main hospital facilities and provide two units so 2 families can benefit from outstanding facilities as a relief from the unremitting stress of a child's treatment or perhaps spend precious last time together as a family unit. We aim to have a swimming pool, spa area, sensory room - everything necessary to provide a fantastic break from often punishing treatment regimes.

However, this will cost! Builders Bewley Homes are identifying sites for us at the moment - please check out our website to see what we have achieved already and what we do to raise money.

Any contribution would be appreciated - we have actually raised more than the website at this moment shows (waiting for updating!). We hold many events and are always looking for raffle, auction prizes etc so if not successfully chosen for the money donations we'll take whatever else people can offer!
  • 1. UNAFUND

    2. http://www.unafund.co.uk/

    3. Keeping the roof over people's heads

    4. UNAFUND is the ONLY charity offering interest-free loans to people threatened with repossession of mortgaged property or eviction from rented accommodation.

Poor job security and mortgages based on two salaries make almost anyone liable to be plunged in to financial chaos by sudden loss of work or prolonged illness – and a loan from UNAFUND can enable people to keep both their home and their self respect.

Monthly repayments of 2% of the loan normally begin two months after the loan is granted.
This means that our funds are continuously being recycled to save more homes

Geographically, we have saved homes in Greater London, Merseyside, Lancashire and East Sussex. Unfortunately we have had to tell potential clients from several counties in England, Scotland and Wales that we have insufficient funds to help them.
