Gateway ID in place but when follow the links/instructions on MSE keep on getting this....'We couldn't confirm your identity'. This is despite being able to log to my business tax summary account using my Gateway ID. I also don't complete Self Assessment so very frustrating.

I just did the claim tonight.
I went to https://www.gov.uk/tax-relief-for-employees/working-at-home, answered the questions, logged in using my Government Gateway ID, but I was never presented with or found the microsite ("When did you start working from home?"). Instead, I was taken to a page with the header "Tax relief for expenses of employment" where I had to fill out a full expenses claim, and spent about half an hour getting nowhere.
Had I not seen the screenshot of the online P87 form in https://blog.moneysavingexpert.com/2020/04/martin-lewis--working-from-home-due-to-coronavirus--claim-p6-wk-/: , I would have given up.
I wonder if anyone can ever get to the microsite after logging in with your Government Gateway ID? Perhaps the website has been changed and the page has been removed?0 -
Sorry if this has already been queried or raised but owing to the Government advising to work from home until June 2021 then are we eligible to claim again for the 2021-2022 tax year on the same basis? I assume the current allowance ends next month.

I don't think this option exists yet (for Covid-19 claims) bit presumably will do in the next few weeks.1

Apologies if this has already been mentioned..
How do I backdate WFH allowance.. Based at home for the last 15yrs and not claimed before. So looking to backdate the claim to as far as possible but it's asking me about number of rooms, how much utilities are etc. Have I selected the wrong option?

The link to the hmrc microservice doesn't work from this page. I had real problems trying to complete this form and then got declined when I did so via the government gateway. They said I needed to complete a P87. However, I eventually found a link that would work and have hopefully applied but I tried calling them initially and was put on hold for ages so didn't get to speak to them, then I used a webchat but that person couldn't help me either. It's a nightmare to get hold of somebody to actually speak to.0

My husband started to work from home due to Coronavirus in March 2020 and continued until he left his job in August 2020. Can he still claim if he's no longer employed by the same employer?0

Nothing to lose but the price of a stamp, some ink, electricity and some paper.glider3560 said:Yes. Self Assessment is nearly all fully automated if you file online, so you can see the deduction on the calculation screen.
If you put it in the wrong box, and your tax return is one of the few that get audited by a human, then they'll just move it to the correct box if you've explained what it is for and inserted the correct amount.
