Online you will need to tailor the return to allow the relevant box to become available for completion.
Thanks. What do you mean by having to tailor the return to allow the relevant box to become available?
When you then complete the employment page I think you are asked "Do you wish to claim any employment expenses or capital allowances while working for your employer". If you answer yes you then get the additional boxes for employment related expenses.0 -

Are you not just going to claim the simple £312? This was your original post.
NB. It is tax relief on £6/week not £6 per week.
Most people save £1.20 or £2.40/week.Hello, I'm confused as to where to claim back the £6 a week work from home on my forthcoming 2020/21 self assessment. Where do I put it please?1 -
Hello
Wondered if someone can help as I'm a little confused as to how I apply for the Working From Home Tax relief. I am in full time employment but receive income from property so can't apply via the microsite as I complete a self assessment return which I've done for the 2019/20 tax year. Can I claim the Working From Home Tax relief when I complete my 2020/21 tax return and does anyone have any idea how or what that will look like??!

We are very confused over how this is supposed to work. My wife applied a couple of months ago, saved the confirmation which said there should be a change in her tax code within 2 working days. Checked several times since, the code is still 1250L. Tried again tonight to apply and gets bounced to a site for claiming expenses rather than the microsite. That doesn't recognise her employment type as it seems to only be set up for particular trades. Nowhere does it ask a date when she started working from home.Has anyone seen their tax code change or had a similar experience where the form was filled in but nothing happened? And how are we supposed to apply for it now? Do you complete the new form and it magically knows, or do you have to fill in £312 for the year as a claim?0

Hello, I wonder if some kind person might help as I'm Confused. I applied for the working from extra home tax allowance and can see straight away from my gateway account the £312 Is showing as other expenses and my tax code has changed. It has changed from single person allowance 1250L to 1216L.
Sorry to sound Incredibly thick but does this look correct as I assume the Tax code would be higher and change to something around 1282L due to £312.00 annual increase.

It may be correct. It may be wrong.
The starting point would be to check how the 1216L has been calculated and if whatever deduction is reducing the tax code allowances is correct.
You could also check your payslips to see what code your employer was using before 1216L.

Does anyone have experience of claiming more than the default £6/week? Our heating and electric bill has rocketed due to me being at home everyday and wandering if I can claim against this?0

I claimed for this tax benefit last tax year, do I need to claim for it again for this new 2021/22 tax year?"If you aren’t willing to own a stock for ten years, don’t even think about owning it for ten minutes” Warren Buffett
