  • You might try washing-up liquid as it is usually designed to work on grease. I use it often for the stains my roommate gets on her t-shirts.

Neither bleach or washing up liquid helped. Well, they might have helped a bit but not on what looks like ground in greasy rust marks

Oh SL what a shame - fingers crossed that you can fix it, and yes, Bar Keeper's friend is often a good bet - failing that, what about a magic eraser or even a bit of bicarb on a damp cloth?

A pack of chicken thighs bought on Friday have so far done soup for lunch on saturday with the other half last night for tea, and will be featuring with our couscous tonight, alongside garlic mushrooms I think, plus chickpeas and probably some form of additional veg too - maybe peppers as I have a few of those that need using.

I think tomorrow will be the rest of the eggs that our friend gave us as a frittata style omelette.

So tea last night evolved...as they do! I was thinking as I drove home that what I really fancied was something along the lines of a sticky sesame chicken type dish to top off that couscous. Worked through in my mind what I reckoned would achieve the sort of flavour and texture I was looking for, and set to.

Sliced an onion and chopped plenty of mushrooms, and cooked those off with a mix of sesame and smoked rapeseed oils. Once they were soft I threw in a few cloves of thinly sliced smoked garlic, and a drained can of chickpeas. Added a good splosh of dark soy sauce and a heaped spoonful of honey, and stirred everything around until it was well coated, at which point I added in the shredded chicken, around a teaspoon of 5 spice powder and a mix of regular and black sesame seeds, plus a splash of light soy. My goodness me it was good - had I bought it from a chinese takeaway I would have been impressed!  (And yes, I have posted this here and on my diary to ensure I can hopefully find the recipe to make it again!)

Honestly, just ridiculously nice - it's getting firmly slotted back into the meal plan again, perhaps as soon as next week!

Last night's veg-packed and colourful frittata style omelette used the final 5 eggs our pals gave us the other week - it's been so nice to have freshly laid eggs like that!  I used a sachet of microwave rice/grains alongside too - that's working well for us as a good way of adding a bit of bulk allowing that I rarely have cooked tatties to throw into the frittata itself.

Easy tea tonight in the shape of the ragu I batch cooked the other week - with pasta, probably spaghetti.

I need to get  my head into the freezer again this evening or tomorrow morning to see what I can pull out for use to clear the decks a bit more - if MrEH is out at rugby on saturday then there is a single portion of something I can use then - if he's not then I'll drag out the tub of roasted squash and another of lemon pepper chickpeas and we'll have those for lunch alongside the test-recipe focaccia I intend to make ahead of Christmas. Freezer 2 is definitely heading towards empty, but I do need a lot more space in F1  to get it properly cleared back so we can defrost, and I REALLY want to defrost it before Christmas!

Might have a think about what I can use for a bits and pieces tea on Sunday too - that might tackle some ends of jars of bits and pieces if we're lucky.

Have you tried sliced tinned potatoes in a frittata EH.  I've done that myself when I haven't had time to cook potatoes and it works OK.  Not as nice as proper potatoes but a good substitute and you can freeze any that are leftover if the frittata doesn't need the whole tin.

I grew up occasionally being fed tinned potatoes - I'm not going to voluntarily eat them again now!
