Just had lamb chops for supper. Only as I unwrapped the bag they were in did I notice the 2020 date when I portioned them up and ftoze them. Shhh!
They tasted fine. 🤐🤭🤫

Hee hee - I think we have all been there SL!
I need to do some serious reverse planning this week as I've taken my eye off the ball with the meal plan!
I have some cooked chicken thighs which will go into various things. Currently thinking that 2 might head to the freezer for next week.
I made soup on Saturday which fed us for lunch then, and will also deal with tea tonight PLUS a single portion in the freezer. That used the last 4 chorizo style sausages from the freezer.
A trial run of the focaccia I plan to do on christmas day means I know what I want to tweak when I make it again (more rising time, brie chunks IN the dough as well as on top) and that also fed us for Saturday night's tea, and lunch yesterday.
Tonight: Soup
Tomorrow: Couscous, almost certainly with the sticky sesame chicken again!
Wednesday: chicken & mushroom risotto I think - this will use a tub of stock from the freezer
Thursday: Maybe sausages and mash - I got the sack of potatoes as the free veg item from Lil's so we have LOTS of sausages!
Currently planning to be out on Friday evening I think - that needs discussion yet but I think we'll probably agree to go.

I had a FTG (food to go) leftover tub of sweet chilli noodles from Friday so this morning, I snipped about half into a bowl of beaten egg, seasoned with S&P and a little glug of olive oil - shallow fried as fritters for Mr Sl as he is off out now. I saw something in the JO book of Italian cookery with spaghetti fritters. Apparently we can have this again, with prawns, garlic and chopped shallots, instead of egg fried rice.
I've got 8 chipolatas out defrosting, or minced beef. Maybe the latter as a ragu as I can leave that to fester simmer in the slow oven while I do some tasks this afternoonSave £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £10,020.92 out of £6000 after September

@Suffolk_lass - I'm well amused that it is an either/or situation!
Reminds me of the days of freezer suprise when I thought I was defrosting a ragu and it turned out to be a tub of gravy! I've taken to keeping a roll of frog tape and a sharpy in the kitchen to label and date everything so while we still have a very full freezer, at the very least I'm rotating the oldest stuff out before the newer bits get put in!
I have however discovered today that we are down to our last pot of soup. It is from last December! A couple of tubs of chicken stock in there, so we have the fixings for chicken veg or chicken noodle soup. We also have several pots of meat drippings and meat bones in the freezer, so I think a french onion soup is next up for batch cooking.4 YEARS 10 MONTHS DEBT FREE!!! Thanks RT - you've reminded me to email MrEH and ask him to get the turkey stock out of the freezer to defrost ready for risotto tomorrow!
Last night's soup got added runner beans (freezer, home grown) as frankly we need to start using them!
Tonight will indeed be the sticky sesame chicken again - by popular demand!
Tomorrow - as mentioned, chicken and mushroom risotto.
Thursday - sausages and mash I think - very possibly with runner beans!
While musing about stock, I also remembered that there is still a tub of (possibly over-salty) ham stock in one or other freezer too. It *might* just be too salty to use, but I think I just need to bite the bullet and check. If I reckon I can make it work I'll use that for some form of soup at the weekend I think. Maybe a potato and leek could work with it as the potato will deal with the salt? Either way, it needs to get out of the freezer!🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡
