Plus some blueberries.
The box didn't contain blackberries, which was a shame, so they substituted them with nectarines, which is ok.
Fruit salad tomorrow!
I'll have some of your cream glut! Although I got some creme fraiche, I had quite a lot with the crumble, so haven't got an awful lot left to have with the fruit salad.
I ordered celery, which I got but it must be just about the longest bunch of celery I've ever seen! I must measure it!
(I just lurve spiders!)

I had celery too - I had to chop it in half to put it in glasses to go in the fridge. And creme fraiche (which as least lasts for ages). I get a small glass bottle of double cream from the milkman every 2 weeks and whereas at one point I was using it all, it now seems to last for ages. Possibly because I've been lazy about cooking for the last couple of weeks and have been eating rubbish. Hopefully that will now change as there is no rubbish left...8

Well, I've just had an interesting lunch!
I had to use up some Jersey Royals, some cherry toms and some fresh herbs...thyme, rosemary, sage, parsley, ginger and root turmeric.
I boiled the Jersey Royals, with a load of purslane steaming above them.
Then sautéed some sliced onion, garlic and cherry toms in olive oil, then threw in all the herbs, chopped up.
Oh, and some sunflower seeds.
Then added the steamed purslane and some black pepper.
I cut up the cooked new potatoes into bite-size pieces, drizzled a small amount of best olive oil over them, and then dolloped the cooked everything else over the potatoes, to make an easy fork dish.
It was interesting! Perhaps a bit heavy on the thyme.....it was on the turn, so had to be all used up.
I still have four of the cooked potatoes and some of the steamed purslane left, to have tomorrow with something else! Probably the oyster mushrooms, as they will need to be eaten.
Anyway, any strange quality the lunch might have had is more than compensated for by all those lovely vitamins, minerals and omega 3 that I have just blessed my body with! 😊(I just lurve spiders!)

Our veg box arrived this morning while I was on the most boring of work calls! Can you believe I'd rather be opening the box than doing work - lol!
Received the most gorgeous bokchoi, a head of broccoli & some salad greens along with pineapple & peaches. Dare I mention the potatoes, carrots & mushrooms? We also ordered a celery and red peppers. All in order, though I'm wondering where the strawberries are - perhaps in the cold box which is sitting on the counter atm?
We seem to be past the use it up stage for veg, though some of the exotics are still lurking - black garlic and turmeric root anyone?🤪

I did indeed find the strawbrerries - we will have them with yogurt for dessert🍓
Not entirely convinced on the garlic - as I"m not the biggest fan of the normal stuff (though OH loves it) - saw a recipe for beet & black garlic houmous and another for black garlic naans - might have to put some effort into using it up!4 YEARS 10 MONTHS DEBT FREE!!! Have a little nibble and you'll see!
In some parts of the world they consider it to be the source of eternal life! (Because it's such a healthy food!) The anti-oxidants become more concentrated by the fermentation process, are more easily absorbed and there's no smell.
Plus it lasts forever in the fridge! And I mean months and months!(I just lurve spiders!)

I do not have a veg box - mostly because I am too tight to pay for it - so we stick with a 1k bag of carrots for 40p, 2 punnets of strawberries for £3, some jersey royal potatoes (8 portions for £2), 80p cabbage, 89p cauliflower and home-grown premium things - all my herbs are outside (though we have yet to grow turmeric and ginger) and we take our premium veg and fruit as it grows with the seasons. Currently just asparagus, Bok choi, lettuces, radishes, pea shoots and rhubarb but gooseberries and red-currants are ripening and the summer fruiting raspberries are not far behind. Our garlic is in the ground - unlikely to be fermented but healthy and tasty, as and when.
Radish salad for lunch yesterday, with YS pork pie, HM pickles and a shop bought ice lolly! Supper was a baked potato with butter cheese and coleslaw - simple, filling and enough after a day rummaging round in our old bee hives and stocks, auditing, cleaning, ordering and getting it all a bit more organised. It's amazing what a visit by a load of lazy been can do (they found a hive we acquired in February that was in the workshop and still had some frames in with a bit of honey, and were robbing it for instant energy!).Save £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)
OS Grocery Challenge in 2025 I am at £1286.68/£3000 or 42.89% of my annual spend so far
