Asparagus from the garden still coming in so we had some with gifted spinach, baked potatoes and a shared fillet steak - the piece of meat felt really small but I thought it was probably important for DH to see what it buys us... over £4 on one steak. It will be a curry tonight I think as I still have a sack with last year's butternut squash in and they needs using at some stage, together with onions, carrots and spinach. I might add some chick peas too.Save £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £9586.01 out of £6000 after August (158.45%)

Curry was good but forgot I had defrosted a pot of venison curry so must build that in somewhere. I went picking elderflowers yesterday and while looking for the lemon I found four limes and a cauliflower (and the lemon - in the fruit-bowl!) so we had cauliflower instead of the macaroni I had planned, and I grilled the streaky bacon that was at the core of what needs using and popped it in with the cauliflower before making it cauliflower cheese. A bit of harvested rhubarb from the garden that I cooked at the weekend was added to the few remaining fresh raspberries and a dollop of greek-style yogurt - so delicious! I might make lime cordial but I shall need a couple more bottles to store it in, so Monday is shopping day (our compromise between weekly and fortnightly is a 10 day cycle. I've looked up parslane to see if I want to grow it and I don't at the moment but I see it is highly nutricious for those that do. I need to use Pak choi here as in two days thay have all developed seed heads! Tonight we might have stir fry (heavy on pak choi) but it might need to be the curry.Save £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £9586.01 out of £6000 after August (158.45%)

Last night's dinner was 'boil in bag' fish in butter sauce with broc, carrots & potatoes from the veg box.
We also have half a head of monster bok choi so must think about using that up for dinner tonight!4 YEARS 10 MONTHS DEBT FREE!!! I've overdone the veg ordering again.
Had a Sainsbob delivery on Monday, and my veg box stuff today, and still have some bits from last week.
This is the problem with only being able to get fixed boxes at the moment, and scared of running out of fresh stuff.
It's also the problem with filling up with doughnuts and caramacs from the Sainsbobs delivery, and then not wanting proper meals! 😔😔😔🥴🥴🥴
I'll probably have to have a week off from ordering veg next week.
Anyway, yesterday evening I chopped up a load of veg which I will stirfry when I've had a rest from washing bottles and things from the delivery.
I know it's not all that good to chop veg in advance, but I knew I'd be tired from the delivery palaver this morning.
In my order was some pea and watercress soup, which I shall add to the stirfry to make a veggie stew.(I just lurve spiders!)

@Pyxis - I'm finding the same. I've got from not having enough to having too much. I realised that it was because I've changed my box and now I'm not getting all the fruit/carrots/potatoes I'm actually getting enough veg. So next week probably needs to be a week off! I also ordered some pork escalopes this week. While I don't need them right now, I'm going to try to order some meat or fish each time so I have more variety, and don't feel I need to do a veg order just to get the protein.
I need to make some soup for lunch to clear out the leftovers, remember to use last week's lettuce for salad tomorrow, and then sort out my meal plan for the rest of the week. Not planning for the last couple of weeks means I have unused peppers, cucumber, lettuce and beans which I really should have eaten!8 -

It was too late to change the order by then. Good job I like ginger and it does last a good while!
But.......I've run out of root turmeric! Sainsbobs didn't have any, and neither did the veg box people. (I have ground turmeric in my herb jars, but it's not the same!)
Epic fail on the food planning front this week! ☹️
Moral.....stay off the sugary treats! They addle the brain! 🥴(I just lurve spiders!)

I always freeze my ginger root and then just grate it from frozen when I want it. No waste at at all then.
