Me want pie.
Am not very good at making pastry, though.
It might have to be crumble! 😂(I just lurve spiders!)

I buy frozen puff pastry - it's vegan too.

We often use frozen berries in apple crumble - have never tried it with rhubarb though - sounds like a lovely combination!

My Sister used to make rhubarb and strawberry jam - you have to cut the rhubarb into shorter pieces than normal of the texture can be a bit weird but it is lovely and the tartness of the rhubarb means it is not too sweet.
DH obviously liked it - he made the same thing last night with the last two brownies (except the secret stash he does not know about) and he topped it with a drizzle of honey. We had our favourite simple supper of cauliflower cheese last night - after a beer and some cheese and onion crisps (we know how to live!). And the power stayed on long enough to watch Gardeners World. It sounds so mundane but I really enjoy a Friday night of simple pleasures.Save £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)

We had roasted peasants last night with swede and celeriac mash. Husband was cross because even after an hour on Gas 7, they weren't cooked in the middle and only small ones, too. Still have about five left in the freezer and these may get shoved in the slow cooker. The mash was great. He filched some of my cream, so I don't have enough for my coffee all weekend now.
A soup maker is great for surplus veg. Another one here, who keeps ginger and Parmesan in the freezer, to grate.
He had a couple of Helen Browning's pork leg steaks on Thursday, which really shrank. Pretty much all of the fat had been cut off, for the full cardboard effect.6 -
Just made a rhubarb and strawberry crumble, with a bit of added ginger, and topped with yogurt mixed with chopped hazelnuts. Yum yum!
Thanks for the idea, folks! I wouldn't have thought of putting the strawberries in with the rhubarb! 👏👏👏(I just lurve spiders!)

Hello MrsS - missed your post earlier today - I've done parm in the freezer as well - great way to make it go far!
We have a glut of turmeric and ginger so must remember to pop them in the freezer tomorrow!
Today's backwards dinner was comprised of two disjointed courses...
1st - pan-fried gyoza (from the freezer)
2nd - pan-fried gnocchi with lardons & a giant leek from the veg box
Neither had any relation to our meal plan - but somehow seemed less work than making a chicken pot pie!4 YEARS 10 MONTHS DEBT FREE!!!
