Got chicken breast out for OH to have hunter's chicken to use up bacon in the fridge, I've got veggie sausages. To be served with new potatoes from the garden, courgettes and green beans from my folks.
I brought back a huge bag of green beans from my parents - I'm incredibly lucky to have a pressure canner so I PCd 7 jars yesterday which don't have to fit in the freezer. Will be doing as much produce as possible this way to free up space in the freezer and reduce our exposure if we have power cuts.
Also got loads of shallots prepped ready to pickle - we are still eating last years so these will have plenty of time to mature before we start on them.0 -
Bought eight melons for folk to eat at a clinic we held last week. Due to the heat many folk cancelled so we didn't need all of them. Now on number four, does anyone know if they freeze well???
I must do something with eggs tonight probably a flan as I've found some serrano ham in the freezer, LO from a leg I brought back at Easter. We'll have it hot tonight and cold tomorrow.
'Pudding' will be Mr Whippy (A Sains.. look alike Angel Delight) butterscotch flavour and a banana to use up the milk from the clinic before it goes off.
Hope it rains tomorrow0 -
According to Google most melon varieties can be frozen in slices, chunks or pureed so definitely worth doing.

I have seen frozen melon balls in shops, not sure what they taste like.

@zafiro1984 frozen melon is great, as are frozen grapes too, especially in the hot weather we're having.
Last night's veg curry was bulked out with the first of our pepper harvest from the garden. Added a nice green bite to the dish which DH approved of. Dinner for me tonight is kimchi fried rice in a bid to empty the open container of kimchi. Have two more jars of the stuff from the last batch we made, but those have yet to be opened so have been fermenting along nicely. This one on the other hand has been open a while and I want it gone before anything bad happens to it.Emergency Fund - £8572.39 / £10,000 :: Mortgage OP 2025 - £LISA 24/25 - £3200 / £4000 :: NSD 2025 - 2 / 150 :: Books Read: 1 / 52 :: Decluttering - 4 / 1000Engaged 9th December 2010 :: Married 29th October 2015 :: Bought a House 13th January 20170 -
Thanks for the suggestions. I'll chop up 4 melons- 2x watermelon 2 x ordinary melon and freeze them. At the worst I can add them frozen to a fruit salad. Never thought of grapes, I'll give them a go. Thanks.
It's just rained, a short light shower,
Downside -I forgot to bring the washing indoors

Made too much cottage pie last night for dinner so we'll have LOs for lunch today - unfortunately not really enough to use for a main meal but last least it will get eaten and not wasted.
