We still had our bubble visitor until this morning so went with his choice last night (mac'n'cauli' cheese) which was grand with lots of chilli flakes and black pepper. It is the only thing I have ketchup with but I felt like a bit of a pagan squirting ketchup in the corner of the dish.
This morning DH made bread and I made Courgette soup, using up stuff in the fridge and freezer. A late light lunch and then ham and egg salad for supper with some of the never-ending cheese and celery, blueberries and port instead of any sort of dessert. I think I can start my diet tomorrow, with the last of the opened chocolate eaten and a desire for simple vegetable rich food.
Some good ideas for prawns - DH suggested we could wrap smoked streaky bacon round some for a light supper!Save £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)

Made minestrone soup for lunch yesterday and there was far more than expected so guess what we've got for lunch today, LOL! Yep more minestrone soup, still it saves the stuff we were going to have for another day, some of which is still in the freezer!

Forgot to say, got some oxtail from the butchers yesterday plus bought some root veg and chucked it all in the SC. Now all portioned up and in the freezer. This hasn't been planned into this month's menu but the oxtail was really meaty and cheap so thought it worth it for extra meals in the freezer for the future!
Also made fish pie last night and it made loads - was supposed to serve 4 but we ate a decent amount last night so 4 more portions now frozen so another 2 meals in the freezer for the future!
Not reverse planning as such but will be in the future!6 -
I love these "extra portions for the freezer". They're so useful, especially at this time of year when Coronavirus or icy weather makes it unwise to go out food shopping, or you simply feel in need of a 'laid back' day without too much cooking. Makes extra sense on fuel economy too. Extra portions of meat sauces & casseroles can just be topped up with a tin of butter or caneiloni beans and you have a tasty "meal in a bowl" with very little effort.7

Primrose - yes extra portions into the freezer are so handy for when you are busy or not feeling up to cooking.Decluttering Achieved - 2023 - 10,364 Decluttering - 2024 - 8,365 August - 0/45

Pressure cooked some chickpeas this morning so have made a batch of falafel and a batch of hummus for snacks for the next few days. I was going to cook them and use them in the veg curry which is planned for tomorrow but decided would be better used to make snacks to save eating sweet stuff like biscuits! I've got enough veg for the curry anyway without the chickpeas.

Any suggestions for ox kidney? I was sent some by mistake and they couldn't send it back so just shoved it in the freezer. It's still there, taking up space...2

I'd go with steak and kidney pie too. Cook the steak and kidney first in the SC and then make the pie.
