Toni's friend - scones! No equipment required. Soda bread - fruit or savory.Today is NSD 11, did 5 hours at the f/b. packed lots of boxes, and people are being fed. I think they said we sent out 200 boxes last week. Lot of f/b have a £5 a month dd scheme, so if you usually donate goods, but can't get out, then they can buy crates of what they are short of and keep on feeding people. Just an idea if you are usually a supporter. My kitchen floor is sparkly clean - I am thaaaaat bored. So I am going to launch myself into a new book......and I lost another lb. 2 more to go!4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

Toni'sfriend said:Hello. Snowbird, nice to meet you.
Thank you, everyone, it's reassuring to hear that it's not just me feeling flat and anxious. It's not a nice feeling, is it? I think that part of the problem is that we Turtles are quite organised and like to know what we're doing. We're planners so things being so outwith our control at the moment is very disconcerting. But we're here to support one another so that's good.
Another NSD. Well, you can't spend a lot if you can't get out unless you spend all day on Amazon, etc. I did have a more productive day today and got a few things done although I could do more. Days are all merging into one. I woke up this morning convinced it was Sunday. I must find something new to do. I thought about learning to bake but I don't have any cake tins, etc and I'm not sure if I can get flour anywhere. Any suggestions on something that isn't too taxing.
Well, I've unearthed some steaks from the back of the freezer so that's dinner with some frozen chips. But before that today's Midsommer Murder.
Take care and stay safe.

Evening
I'm grateful to know I'm not the only one feeling a bit flat at the moment, but sorry that there are so many of us feeling like this. I'm not used to having so much time on my hands and whilst I'm enjoying some of it I'm also a bit lost in terms of what to do for some of the day. I'm doing a lot of reading and a lot of crochet - but I'm never going to be anything of a homemaker or gardener. I do the bare minimum required to get through. Today I got round to mowing the grass, and next door as well - I figure it's easier to do a little bit every week than let it grow into a jungle then try and tackle it. Washing dishes, washing clothes, feeding me and the kids, sorting the cats. Also had my walk as usual, but got a bit down when they officially said on the news that we have another 3 weeks of this. I'm desperate for a haircut, ds is very desperate for a haircut and my tash is starting to make me look like my dad. Plus I miss being able to pop out for food when I want to, and going to bestie's for a coffee, and seeing my family and friends, and being with people at work. Meh. That is all.
However, I am as always, grateful for: 1. Being able to sit in the garden while the weather is so nice, 2. Not being locked down with my ex husband, 3. My physical health and being able to go out for a walk, 4. Technology so I can stay in touch with people, 5. My kids and cats

Abbi - we don't go outside to clap either. We clap from inside instead. Dd drew rainbow-y style things on the paving slabs at the front of the house and on some of the wall - a couple of other houses have also done it. Tomorrow I plan to use up some wool to make a wool rainbow picture for the window.Dd was back at 'school' yesterday and as they do it in real time, it is perfect for structuring the day. She likes me to sit at the table with her (awww!) So I potter on with a gazillion sites to trawl through for extra teaching material - I planned up to half term last week, but any other resources that can add variety will be good.Today I am grateful for a warm day, for getting the lawns mowed, for seeing my neighbours as we were all in our back gardens at the same time (4 of us!), for dd getting on with her work, for the american version of junior bake off, for arnica, for my family being safe and well.NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!7

I make plans for the day and then it never happens!
Can’t claim NSD has our food shop delivered today and paid for.
DS did schoolwork but not much. I re-educated myself on nouns, verbs, adjectives! Didn’t really get it in school and as I sat there trying to teach him I did think ‘Is this even necessary!’
DS is very teary and got upset tonight on cubs online. They were making paper aeroplanes and he couldn’t keep up. He cried. DH showed him after the meeting, he made it perfect and he cried again even though he made it. Should I keep trying with him or let him give up if doesn’t want to do it??

NSD yesterday (DS1's bday) and today.
Thankful for living close to the canal and fields, lovely sunshine, technology (long video call with bestie yesterday), having lots of supplies in, the binmen collecting rubbish, food waste and recycling (but not garden waste - understandably), DS1 enjoying a lockdown bday, board games, chocolate

Thursday- NSD 11.
Also some missing mojo here- if anyone finds any I could be done with some being lobbed in my direction!
CCL- I too am very grateful not to be in lockdown with my ex! He is however being very reasonable currently about not seeing DD for the foreseeable future (he doesn't see her much anyway but I was expecting a "reaction" to being told he couldn't).
Gratitudes- DD, still no rain, being able to run a little bit further today, our sunflower seeds are starting to poke through the ground, helping a friend with a work related query which will hopefully reduce the pressure on my colleagues who are still at work.

Most of the curriculum is out of date and pointless. My DD spent weeks and weeks studying An Inspector Calls for GCSE English and yet people can't spell or use correct grammar and puncuation even when they have a degree, the whole thing needs an overhaul for modern life.

Morning all
Glad it's Friday and i can do something productive in the house after getting through my work day. I have work to do but i am struggling with motivation. I also have 2 x PT jobs that are quite busy and feel more relevant so i'd rather focus on them. Oh well.
Yesterday - i had a quick walk with DD2 & a nice chat; did pilates as usual via Fb; clapped for carers and saw quite a few of our neighbours outside. DD1 went to sainz and cooked tea both of which i was grateful for. Had a nice text chat with friend as it was her birthday.
Better get my laptop on.
Hope people feel ok, take care

Obviously this opinion is my own, but for what it's worth, I wouldn't keep on with cubs if it's the whole thing he doesn't like - he'll end up being resentful of it and there will be other things he might prefer to do. However, if it is the frustration of not being able to do the aeroplane first time then I would encourage him to keep trying. One skill in desperate short supply at comp is resilience. So many of the kids give up on things because they would rather not try than try and fail, or spend so much of their time comparing themselves to others. Unfortunately as Dolly mentions - the curriculum isn't well suited to modern life and we don't get much time or chance to teach what I call 'being a decent human being'.
I'm a teacher and I'm struggling with home education of my two. My dd is in Year 10 and in bits about what will happen to her next year when it gets to her GCSEs and she has to do her exams having missed a large chunk of school. And as always, I've tried to focus on what I think is the key content that will help her, but also things like managing her time, thinking through the problem, considering alternative outcomes, making sure she gets outdoors, teaching her how to operate the washing machine etc. What I consider to be skills that she needs to get through life.
Sorry - got off topic a bit there.
