NST April 2020: Fools we are not!

abbi - if you have bicarb in the house, pour it on the threshold, it mixes with the acid on their feet and fizzes and they do not like walking on it.  It is a short term fix, but they are coming in because they can smell food -  usually sugar- put everything in jam jars / storage jars / sandwich bags.   We had them one year because one of my kids had left a sticky mess from a flavoured coffee syrup on a shelf - they wake up in the warm weather hungry and can smell sugar, well not quite for miles, but from quite a distance.  Once it was identified as the culprit and cleaned up, it was quite easy to get rid of them.  The 6 bottles of ant killer powder we found when we moved in should have given us a clue, we had nothing for 2 years and then suddenly ANTS!! everywhere in the kitchen, but it was a matter of 2- 3 days and they were gone.   Who knew big burly teenagers are scared of ants?

Hi all

Apologies I have forgotten to post for a few days! But have three more NSDs so that's positive. I sold my camera on ebay so will get that posted tomorrow, along with my old phone. Might as well make the odd extra bit of cash when I can!

Not much to report, been enjoying the sunshine on my daily walk and also trying to work out every day as well.

My gratitudes for the last few days are hearing a woodpecker on my wall even if I still can't see him(!); the sunshine; being healthy and well; finding fun in these uncertain times; and work keeping me busy.

NSD 4 today, I am doing research - watching home renovation tv shows. I might as well be full of ideas.

See what is possible and get an idea of budget.

Gratitudes - dh cooking supper tonight, ideas, not having to go out, having free stamps (dh appears to have set up as a domestic yeast supplier  - a  secret raising agent - ha ha ha!! )

Think will be a spend day as lack of veg and fresh food, contemplating going to local express SM; also want to make a donation to the Beat charity; hopefully NSD tomorrow.

NSD - again have not left the boundary of our garden More digging over of strawberry patch and have emptied compost bin and dug this in. Strawberries all well watered yesterday and today, ready for going in the bed tomorrow. Will need to spend tomorrow - will need milk then (down to our last 8 pints - likely to get us through tomorrow, but not breakfast the following day) and also f&v. Won't really need anything else (but will look at the lamb joints for Sunday if they have any) but milk is a must!!! - will run around the veg aisles and dairy (and then meat!) as quickly as poss - may nip to Ald1 as they are smaller and less temptation to browse.....

Thankful for: DS1's help in the garden again, DD helping DS2 with English home-schoolwork, the sunshine, for not needing anything, for my family & friends being well, for school number 1 coming up with a solution (even if they've called it a 'goodwill gesture') for pay for exam invigilators this Summer

Today I am grateful for yoga, for getting the shopping v easily, for playing more badminton with dd, for finding some really useful utube clips for teaching, for yummy baked potato for tea, for 85% choc!

Still on NSD No 5

I was lucky enough to get  a home delivery today so we're all sorted for a bit. I'm really grateful for that as I have been told not to go out. Starting to feel just a little bit stir crazy. I can find lots to do in the house but I would really love to go for a walk.

Think I’m on 5 NSD. Relaxing day but a few useful jobs done including making a big jar of juice from some beetroot and brocolli stalks in the fridge. Drank some, put some in fridge for tomorrow. Was going to make a cake but had pavlova left from yesterday that needed eating so will defer until tomorrow.

NSD 4/15
Went to ‘The Conservatory’ for lunch made a nice change from ‘The Desk’ 
Taught DS how to cook a meal towards his cubs badge he did really well and we both enjoyed it.
Need to start going for a walk again.
Will keep decluttering until the weekend or at least Friday (bank holiday)
Grateful for:
Being ok once I got up
Internet
DS being ok
Dry day to dry washing outside
Feeling well

Purps, does your juice make your pee purple too?  DH scared the pants off himself drinking beetroot juice when he was training.  You could have heard his squawk in the next county.
