    The answer is ‘yes’.

You may also wish to read the existing TUI thread as this has been asked and answered several times.

You will have been asked to read and sign something to say you agreed to the low deposit scheme and the further deposit payment. It's very clear.
  • Apologies if I have posted this to the wrong place but I’m just looking for some advice on my holiday on the 5th July to Cyprus.

we have booked a package holiday and at present we have only paid the small deposit of £150, however if I was to cancel off my own back I would have to pay a charge of £600, if I was to cancel in 2 days time this charge would go to 30% so a significant amount of money.

Ive tried to amend my holiday until 2021 but the website says technical difficulties, does anyone know what the amendment fees actually are? As at present they are only free up until the end of June?

Im just In a position where I don’t want to pay in full in the off chance they some how can get away with flying us out there and we don’t actually feel comfortable travelling.

However if I cancel now and they postpone travelling, I presume if I pay £600 then there is no comebacks due to the cancellation terms and conditions.

Would I be better off just not paying anything else and see if they extend the terms unti July for free amendments, however I’m mindful of the cancellation fee going up to 30% and then 50% and I don’t want to get in to debt for a holiday we won’t be going on.

I know it’s probably been asked somewhere else but I just don’t really know what to do next and there website says only call up if your flying in May, any help would be appreciated thank you

Thank you both for your replies

I have read previous threads regarding TUI and other tour operators and am also fully aware of TUi's terms and conditions regarding low cost deposits.

However, my query is over why with the numerous pervious bookings I have made through TUI  I have had to make an interim payment up to the value of the full deposit where as on this occasion no mention of a payment other than a final payment. I just thought it was strange.

    Thank you

FULL REFUND RECEIVED.  Trip 19/4, full cash refund requested yesterday, mid morning.  Back onto my credit card a/c £4425.10 divided into 3 payments exactly how I paid TUI.  Result.
well done eventually you got your cash back not easy though is it.
I will think twice before booking with TUI next time.

Not an easy decision. If I knew they were giving refunds to people, then the decision would be much easier. But they have lost public confidence at the moment. Unlike Jet2 who seem to be dealing with things better.
we got our money back eventually albeit around 30 days don't give up the TV news this morning will put pressure on them TUI got 1.8 million loan from EU to cover there costs.
    good luck.
Your 17th March holiday to Jamaica was cancelled 14th March. You posted having recieved a refund on 3rd April (page 6 I think) saying you got it the day before. I work that out as 19 days. That gave a bit of hope at the time given my refund was actioned 16th March, but sadly in my and many other cases still nothing.
yes it seems they are getting slower to pay out their whole game seems to rest upon ABTA persuading the government to force customers to accept vouchers as the EU have done they will pay we have to keep up the pressure.

I see. They have jumped that step. Is it due to the compressed timescale, perhaps?

In the absence of being able to contact them, I would assume they would pursue you for the rest of the deposit (in other words, budget for it) but wait and see. They may be too busy to bother.
  • I have now received a refund of low deposit and final deposit. Not had final balance refunded but hopefully it will follow.

You mean you requested it yesterday and received it on the same day?
No, I spoke with TUI on Wednesday mid morning, & she processed the refund while I was on the line.  Very late Thursday evening checking if Gatwick parking had refunded yet, & was gobsmacked to see the TUI refund there.

Be nice to see a few more getting theirs, several on Twitter been waiting since March!  Not sure if on-line bookers are faring better than in-store or what. No logic to it.
Seen it all, done it all, can't remember most of it.
