anticlaus105 said:I wasted another 1 hour 45 minutes calling them today. I asked how long my refund would take and was told 28 days. I pointed out next Monday would be 28 days from my initial refund email so would they be working bank holidays? I was then told sometime next week. I asked about the email I recieved following calling on 3rd saying 4 weeks and she said it would probably be from this email. She kept reiterating they are refunding and are working in date order. She tried to make out this email had nothing to do with my call despite it arriving within 10 minutes of it. I said I would not be happy to wait 4 weeks from 3rd April given I was promised a refund within 5 days on 16th March, and what would have happened if I'd waited until end April to call, would it be 4 weeks from then? Again she mumbled some garbage and kept contradicting herself and struggling to answer simple questions. They are either making it up or downright lying when you call them.3

I've decided that when & if I feel I must 'phone TUI, hol 19 April so some way off before I become impatient if I haven't heard from them in a more personal manner, I'm going to be exceptionally polite & friendly to make up for all the calls they've taken from total planks, even if I know I'm being fobbed off.
This is not their fault.Seen it all, done it all, can't remember most of it.1 -

We've seen plenty of advice online for holidays that have been paid for fully, but it seems to be a grey area for TUI holidays that are part paid for. We are currently swaying towards paying it, and at least that way we qualify for claiming the holiday on insurance/ TUI cannot say we are in default. Before we commit to this decision we are doing the maths to see what amount we'd receive back of the portion we've paid already if we were to cancel now (& not pay the final instalment). Alternatively, as our departure date falls between 8th- 30th June, we can make a change free of charge. Hopefully we make the right choice. I would be interested to know whether any one else is in a similar position, and what they plan on doing. We have a TUI holiday booked for mid June.We paid the balance on 19th March, before the closure of pubs & restaurants and before the lockdown. At the time, the advice was to pay the balance and you'd get a refund if the tour operator cancelled. If you didn't pay the balance by the due date, you'd forfeit your deposit.Of course now there's all this talk of vouchers etc instead of refunds. The exact same holiday for 2021 is 20% higher than we paid.We are currently thinking about deferring and swallowing the increase as the accommodation we've booked is very small and very popular and we can see it getting booked up as more people think the same as us.It's very popular with retired people who can probably afford to do to defer the holiday and leave the money paid to TUI (as we can) but not everyone can afford to do that.Further to this ^^^^I've just looked at TUI website again and the holiday I have booked for June this year which was 20% more expensive for 2021 last week has now increased by a further £86 per person.I've had some sympathy for TUI previously since this virus hit us all but I really do think they are taking the mickey with these prices.£1750 for 2 people in basic 2* self catering accommodation is - imho - ridiculous.0
