4K or Full HD TV for SD and HD content

Hi i'm looking for a new tv, i understand that buying a 4k tv means it's future proof but i honestly won't and don't intend on watching any 4k content for a long time. Therefor is it best to buy a 4K tv or a Full HD one for the best picture quality on SD and HD channels?

4K is more or less the norm now. I don't have any problems with SD or HD channels on mine.
Anyway you need to answer some basic questions.  What size do you want and what budget do you have?

Unfortunately your choice is going to be severely limited as there's very few, decent, TVs that are still only 1080p. Sony have on, as do Panasonic.

I know I am one of these people who finds fault with things no matter what lol. I just wondered what the actual science/technical evidence is on what brings out the best HD picture, an HD tv or a 4K one

Well scientifically speaking depending on how big the TV is and how close you sit to ot will determine whether the human eye will be able to discern any real difference.

Also, there's more to picture quality than just number of pixels. I'd still put my old, but top of the range, 1080p Panasonic plasma up against some of these 4K/UHD TVs and it would still shine.
