Pay TV has always been a luxury rather than a necessity, of course, and if you don't have time to watch then I agree you are wasting money paying for it.in_my_wellies said:I don't have time to watch what I want/need to watch and I only have Freeview. I've no need to pay for any of these extra services. However, other than BBC content, Freeview channels have far too many adverts for me.....2 -
I've just cancelled my BBC subscription. With no live sport happening and nothing of note on the IPlayer i realised that we could do without. We kept netflix at £9 per month. 4od and itvplayer and YouTube are free. That's plenty for us.0

The one they call a licence fee ??

Yep, I decided not to renew my licence. I double checked the legislation and, because we never watch live TV as it's being broadcast and can do without the IPlayer, we don't need to pay. Of course, if/when live sport resumes, I'll sign back up. They really should offer a monthly subscription to make it easier.Moneyineptitude said:

It's because the TV licence is more like a tax than a subscription, so paying it is the default option. It's illogical an anachronistic in this day and age when there are so many streaming platforms available and more and more people are turning away from "traditional" TV.Petriix said:

I have Amazon Prime at £79 and Disney Plus at £49.99 a total of £128.99 that's almost £30 cheaper than the TV tax. Compare that to £13.12 a month, from April, for the TV tax it's £10.75 a month, using the pre launch date offer. Even if you pay £5.99 a month it's still cheaper. I used to have Netflix as well but dumped it about 5 months ago. I am waiting for all the Disney stuff to come on their channel from Netflix and Amazon video, if Amazon has any.Someone please tell me what money is1

I have Now TV- Entertainment and Movies, most the shows I watch at on there.
I also have Cinema Paradiso (physical post rental service). As they have stuff which are not available on any stream service.
If there is a show on Netflix or Prime I want to watch, I wait a while then pay and binge as much as I can in the month and cancel - I watch about 3 shows per stream.0 -
Is anyone watching Britbox, and is it any good/worth the money? Appears to be just recycled old BBC and ITV programming, of which there are enough repeats on other channels.
I think this job really needs
a much bigger hammer.
